The real Brendan Rodgers returned as he faced the media after Celtic’s 2-1 victory in the Glasgow Derby.

Goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo Furuhashi settled the issue to send the hoops eight points clear at the top of the SPFL table going into the new year.

Celtic have played two matches more but even with a side badly depleted by injuries they showed that they can find a way to win to bring a halt to Philippe Clement’s unbeaten record in charge of the Ibrox club.

During his first spell in charge Rodgers won 10, drew twice and lost once in the Glasgow Derby as Mark Warburton, Graeme Murty, Pedro Caixinha and Steven Gerrard tried to outsmart him.

Earlier this season Rodgers added Micky Beale to his list of conquests, facing the media following his BBC and Sky Sports duties the Celtic boss delivered some unwelcome home truths about his record in the Glasgow Derby.

I find it quite strange that BBC Sportsound with commentary of the game only, knew about the non penalty drama before Sky Sports who had the rights to the game selling it around the wurr-eld ? Just as the teams were coming out for the start of the second half , Kenny of the Mac Intyre stated that there was an offside flag which nullified any possible penalty decision , yet the SS ‘ knew nothing . ‘ I would have thought that it would have been the other way round ! Maybe the SS wanted to keep everyone on tenterhooks Intentionally for whatever reason ? Lazy scooping at the very least …..

They’ve not been given a penalty their last two games

So the meltdown and outrage begins which is fully backed by the media

70 plus games since they’ve conceded a league penalty ( silence on that )

    As an aside,

I chose to watch Cantwell during the game.

He is a waste of a sevco shirt.

Cantwell is arguably, one of the most naturally gifted sevco players.

But he is a lightweight, his work rate is abysmal,

his movememt off the ball is minimal.

In fact, Cantwell must think he is Messi-like,

because he frequently just casually strolls about the pitch.

Clement should be going absolutely bonkers at the blonde tw@t.

    🙂
Editor: Loves to take two or three touches, pass the ball back or sideways then quickly runs away rather than take a return pass. Easy to see why there was no interest in him in England, and why Beale thought that he was amazing, I fink.

  • Stevie says:

Not much comment on the Turnbull penalty?. Not offside either?

Editor: Exactly, they weren’t waiting around to check that very dodgy offside call…

  • John S says:

Neil McCann correctly referred to the ‘Glasgow Derby’ in his comments then swiftly revised his faux pas in deference of his loyalty to the ‘Old Firm’ tag.
