Callum McGregor has pleaded with Mark Lawwell to deliver the quality players that Brendan Rodgers has been pleading for since returning to Celtic in June.

That plea was met with the arrival of seven dubious projects on long term contracts, none of whom would have got near a first team place in last season’s Celtic side.

Against Hearts only Luis Palma of the summer signings made it onto the park with the Honduran substituted midway through the second half for Alexandro Bernabei- someone yet to start an SPFL match this season and left out of Celtic’s UEFA squad.

Bernabei was among the first batch of players that Lawwell Mini brought to Celtic with the others- Ben Siegrist, Sead Haksabanovic and Oliver Abildgaard also left of the Champions League squad by Rodgers.

Only Alistair Johnston and to a lesser extent Oh Hyeon-gyu have made any positive impact from Lawwell’s Recruitment ‘strategy’ over three transfer windows with McGregor left to try and keep things afloat with sub-standard team mates.

Speaking to the Daily Record the Celtic captain said:

We’ve got a transfer window that can help the group and I’m almost certain that needs to be a big window to help us. We need players to help the squad. I’m not talking specifics, I’m talking quality coming through the door. That can be in any position, it’s the manager and those guys job to do that.

But like I said, I think we need bodies and we need quality to come in and help us. Every season when we look at it, we want to be better. We come back in off wining a treble, how do we get better? You have to freshen up the place. You lose five or six big players from last season, so you then have to go and replace that if you want to keep on being successful.

You have to find a way to rejuvenate the team and find the next Jota, find the next crop of players that are going to go and make you successful. So, that’s a target for the club all the time and they are always looking. Like I said, we’re missing the quality from last season and so we need to add to that. I think that’s obvious.

There is not a shred of evidence to suggest that Mark Lawwell was involved in any recruitment before walking into a job at Celtic which Michael Nicholson claimed was driven by Ange Postecoglou.

Strangely there has been no attempt to take Lawwell Mini to Spurs although Postecoglou did try to bring John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan with him to London.

Should Peter and Mark Lawwell be removed from their jobs?

Yes, enough is enough

There are 60 million reasons why the board have to get the January window spot on ! Speculate to accumulate is a part of it ,sure ! But blind Willie McTell could see that this current Celtic squad’s quality is screaming out for fresh blood to meet the standard of League winners . To my way of thinking ,the worst kind of failure is the self inflicted kind and this campaign is right in the middle of an abject wilful breakdown .WHY for Christ sakes ….WHY !

Wow, they really are milking this excuse.

I am sorry but someone should tell McGregor making 300 two yard passes backwards and sideways is not contributing anything to the team.

Perhaps if he made more runs like the one, and I mean one, he made around the 60 minute mark where he passed two defenders and actually entered the opposition box we might score more.

Bring in quality players, what was Ange working with? Ok not European standard but enough to do the job in Scotland with the right team selection and tactics.
