In the closing 15 minutes of today’s defeat from Hearts the Celtic board discovered that not everyone thinks they are utterly wonderful, laughing at their tired old jokes at the AGM.

The famous SACK THE BOARD chant was heard with 12 minutes left to play in the defeat from Hearts, quickly followed by a chant at Peter and Mark Lawwell, it seems that the multi-millionaire Chairman had more important things to do this afternoon that watch the team he loves so dearly.

Gordon Strachan took some flack during his time in charge but there has never been a show of such dissent this century- with the customers back in the stadium there was no hiding place for Michael Nicholson and his Finance Executive Chris McKay.

Three seasons ago they toughed it out during Lockdown, after a tame League Cup exit to Ross County brought fans to the stadium barriers went up to keep them at arms length- away from the statues of Willie Maley, Jock Stein and Jimmy Johnstone.

There is very little chance of any comment, or leadership from Celtic this week but the Lawwell Loyal will be getting briefed tonight, the songs and protests inside the stadium aren’t the Celtic way with the Directors hurting as much as the fans at the poor results.

Supporter anger is likely to be mobilised across Social Media this week, Saturday’s match at home to Livingston is a perfect platform for fans to make their feelings known before the match.

Today’s protests didn’t come from the ‘ghastly’ Green Brigade but from Season Ticket holders that paid 6% more for two matches less before paying £46 per match to watch a spineless Champions League ‘campaign’.

Some gimmicks can be expected, a deal with the Green Brigade could be announced but while the Grey Brigade sit in comfort in the Directors Box they better prepare themselves for verbal abuse from dissatisfied members of the #CelticFamily.

Should Peter and Mark Lawwell be removed from their jobs?

Yes, enough is enough

So, if us paying punters turn up on Saturday,

    holding up banners etc. demanding;

    “Sack the Board !”,

    “Lawwells Out !”,

    or some such…

can we expect to receive a ban from the Board…?

    Asking for a friend. 🙂

    • KC67 says:

Lawwell and the board thought they had pulled a flanker banning the Green Brigade. Great to see the rank and file finding their voice at last.

The fans need to push hard for change, the current set-up at the club is rotten to the core.

I wouldn’t expect any serious business in the transfer window, simply because the board are not serious about the footballing side of the club. It’s finance first and football second.

They’ve got so much money in the bank they can afford to help out their friends at Ibrox by letting them win the league, how else could you explain the absurd transfer window in the summer or Lawwells rainy day fund for not reaching the champions league.

The board never look forward more than a season at a time, no long term plan to grow the club, just happy to bumble and plod along season after season. Totally depressing, As a club we should be so much more.

      • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Yep – But their friends from Ibrox (Liebrox) certainly won’t help them KC67…

If as is now a real possibility that Sevco win the league just watch as they put their jackboots on the throats of Celtic (and that includes sonny Lawwell and daddy Lawwell as well) –

If Pistol Pete thinks that Sevco will be nice to him and Celtic he’s got a helluva lot of thinking to do…

And he was NEVER very good at poker was Pete !

  • Terence Nova says:

Look on the bright side lads…Come tomorrow our Directors…BR…and the players …will still be millionaires…What’s not to like…..Oh and am I glad I gave up ST in protest…??…What will you do…??

  • Murph says:

It’s in Lawwell’s interest to make sure that Sevco wins the league title this year. If there is no competition from Sevco, it hurts his bonus.
This is probably why MacKay got ousted so quickly. Trying to upset the apple cart; or more like derail the gravy train.
Out mentally challenged friend Scud Missile (obsessed much scud?) from the Herald above is correct; the 67k people paying needs to change the trajectory. If the chuckle brothers Lawwell and Co are intent in serving up dogshit, then perhaps refuse to pay the price of salmon they are demanding.

  • William Melvin says:

The only surprise to me,at the time of writing this,is that 28 have voted to keep this pair of arseholes in their positions.
The only other thing l wish to add on an absolutely shambolic series of events this season is that this survey should have been more inclusive in it’s apportioning of blame.
It should have included the clueless, chickenheart of a manager who has lied to the support and has brought back from England the same dismal football he left us with so long ago and the lrish arsehole golfer who has one club too many in his bag,ie Celtic Football Club !!
Anger doesn’t even come close to how l feel tonight..
We have been betrayed by the bean counters and an incompetent board who cherish a healthy balance sheet and their Old Firm Franchise over a healthy, progressive Celtic team.
I wish nothing but a plague on all their houses.
Get out of our club, the lot of you,it does not belong to you just because you own a load of shares !!!

  • John S says:

The team manager is responsible for performances on the field of play. Celtic have the players to win the SPL. By all means criticise the Board on other aspects but the manager and players have wilted to two, entirely winnable, defeats.

    • Justshatered says:

And yet if the players do not perform to the managers instructions they are dropped yet ironically the manager does not have the players to play the way he wants to play.
How do you solve that conundrum ?

Our overall style of play is at least two, possibly three, levels below where it was last season. Every player, with the exception of O’Riley, is two levels below where they were last season.

How is that explainable with a so called “elite” manager.

    • William Melvin says:

John, l agree 100% with everything you say but please explain to me how BR came back in the summer saying he had been given the go ahead to build a team for Europe only to then accept a load of players who were obviously not fit to wear a Celtic top and more than likely never will be.
He has accepted the dross that Lawwell jnr has foisted upon him and is now throwing the players who HE puts out on the pitch under the bus.
Nicholson is another yes man who if he had ANYTHING about him would have given the Paddy hacker an ultimatum that if Lawwell snr came back as chairman they would be looking for a new CEO.
In what alternative universe did he think he was residing where he wouldn’t have that slitty eyed micro manager looking over his shoulder.
They say the fish rots from the head down and it was never truer than in this case.
A board absolutely corrupt to the core…….and useless into the bargain.
      Disgusting individuals. !!!

  • Stevie says:

Does anyone really know why McKay left? Or has he signed a confidentiality clause?

  • Mickybhoy71 says:

Celtic fans need to band together, be it the trust or some other organisation.. Then just start buying up shares.. 60,000 fans putting in£10…it’s a lot of shares… This Irish parasite only owns 35%but has 100% say on how the club is run.. Slowly slowly we keep buying until the % makes a difference for the real fans

    • William Melvin says:

Money better spent than on buying their shite merchandise and four different kits every season.
Are people THAT hungry they are willing to queue up for their rotten pies and bovril.
They are only in the ground for two feckin hours but they’re so hungry/greedy they can’t do without.
They must have feckin tapeworms !

  • Mickybhoy71 says:

I’ve never bought “food” in the stadium, I wouldn’t even feed that muck to my dog.
Buying blocks of shares is the only way to get the tory parasites to listen
