Image for Rodgers reveals Cameron Carter-Vickers injury blow

After being substituted early in the second half of the 3-0 win over Dundee Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t be involved in Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.

The defender has had a troubled year with injury, undergoing knee surgery at the start of May then missing six weeks with a hamstring problem two matches into his comeback.

Stephen Welsh came off the bench at Dens Park on Tuesday and looks likely to partner Liam Scales tomorrow, starting his first SPFL match in 14 months.

Scales had an outstanding day at Ibrox back in September when he paired up with Gus Lagerbielke in his first experience of the fixture.

The injury to Carter-Vickers releases a place on the bench for a central defender with Nat Phillips, Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki contenders to come into the squad.

On the back of defeats to Kilmarnock and Hearts Celtic responded by beating Livingston and Dundee, Saturday’s Derby match gives the hoops the chance to win three successive matches for the first time this season.

CCV is a great player, but never off the sick bed. Celtic need to start buying in more robust players.

Editor: Perhaps the issue with the medical department?

I would need to generally agree with your 2 points, from differing aspects. Okay.
Apart from the INCREDIBE number of serious injuries, long term injuries, at Celtic I have considered another coupla points. (1st being science and 2nd diet)
We’ve CONSISTENTLY been outplayed at set pieces (losing), especially into our box but also (failing) into our oponents box.
Our ‘B’ team is far,far lower than it should be, given the buying power of our Club and produces very little. THERE IS A PROBLEM! IMHO cente -halves, and for years.
Our assistant manager was a centre-half until injury finished him, but he was not the best anyway. Darren o’ Dea and Stephen McManus.
SO, we expect miracles from amateur coaches?
FFS, 1st thing is let Brendan bring in quality to cover these essential positions and 2ndly…..SACK THE BOARD. They’re trying to throw the League now even with a huge jackpot for CL entry at atake………WHY?
If the ESL gets clearance, the delightful Lawwell and Desmond stand to steal fortrunes more than they’ve already done. FFS, WAKE UP. Slogan: WAKE UP FOR CELTIC!
Fukk the new huns, they’re nothing on their own but, as part of the dead old firm, wortrh a fortune. Get them tae fukk and take our traitors with them.
Hail! Hail! The Glasgow Celtic, fukk huns old and new.

Neither Scales or Welsh has let us down …so while it’s a setback…I’m still confident these two will do the business for us again.
    ‘Mon the Hoops.

    Whatever happens tomorrow

Don’t let up on getting these shysters running our club out of the door

    • TicToc says:

Now there’s a comment that EVERY Fenian should be proud of.
      Well said that mhan!
Get the charlatans OUT OF CP, NOW AND FOREVER.
Lawwells and Desmonds 1st, but the rest are only Desmond/Lawwell appointees.
Get them ALL tae fukk…….and let their stupid, crass, offensive humour at the AGM follow suit. We need Bold Fenians running our club and there’s certainly enough of us to do just that.
I feel a war coming on………a war they CANNOT confront nor win.
I ask of all you brave Fenian men to be united in this and cleanse our beloved Celtic FC for ever…..maybe even longer πŸ™‚
