Anthony Joseph’s Celtic striker update

Anthony Joseph last night issued a curious ‘mibbes aye, mibbes naw’ tweet about Sydney van Hooijdonk coming to Celtic.

The Sky Sports reporter and Celtic fan is generally fairly close to transfer news in and out of the club but his tweet on the Bologna striker was unusually non-committal.

Celtic do have an interest in van Hooijdonk, Bologna are willing to let him leave this month but there appears to be no recent contact even though there are only a few days left in the Transfer Window.

Alarm bells were going off among fans watching Saturday’s laboured 1-0 win over Ross County with the performance as stodgy as the pitch in draining the life out of the fans that looked forward to a few goals after cheering a first minute deflection from Alistair Johnston put their side in front. They waited and waited.

Van Hooijdonk was left out of the Bologna squad for last night’s draw away to AC Milan with the strong hint that a move is being discussed. On TNT Sport’s coverage of the match it was claimed that a move to Celtic was on the cards.

With just 207 minutes of action on Serie A spread across nine appearances it seems logical that the player and club look in different directions in the remaining months of the season.

It remains to be seen if 23-year-old will repeat the move that his Dad took in 1995, after yesterday’s performance the pressure is on the Celtic recruitment team more than ever to provide Brendan Rodgers with first team starters for the demanding run of fixtures coming up.

Atm it would seem to be a panic buy to take the pressure off the bad feeling being aimed at certain areas of the board,,,as for his recent stats it does not make for great reading,,,

I see somebody has already had a bit of sport with Sydney’s Wikipedia page – either that or his middle name really is Di Canio and he played for St Rochs…..

      Bad move. Leave well alone.
His record is average at best and wouldn’t even be a consideration if his da wasn’t big Pierre.

No striker will be effective at Celtic under Rodgers way of playing.
Pass back pass side is what was frustrating us during his 1st stint.
kyogo does same runs but ball does not get played into him, kyogo would get more passes if he was one keeper.
Rodgers has destroyed a winning, fast paced team, back to dire football under him.
The Rangers can win the league but should be well behind Celtic.
The losing formula is fully in control again at Celtic, lawell & Rodgers, compounded by Lawell jnr and someone called Nicholson.

Rodgers football is boring the life out of me, but more so the team.
I will Boo these guys until they leave.
The team will be cheered and encouraged at all times, it’s not the players fault that the hierarchy are so bad.

Get singing everyone, Celtic park is like a graveyard these days.
    Hail Hail.
