After taking 16 days to sign another winger Anthony Joseph has named three positions that Celtic are looking to strengthen before the transfer window closes.

A striker and left-back are reported to be the priority positions but more than halfway through the transfer window it seems that loan deals could be more likely than getting permanent moves through.

The signing of Kuhn puts a major question mark over recruitment with Marco Tilio, Luis Palma and Yang Hyun-jun all signed on long term deals during the summer.

Two of those wingers are on duty at the Asian Cup which opens the door to Kuhn to push his claims in the home matches against Buckie Thistle and Ross County.

Greg Taylor and Kyogo Furuhashi are the first choice selections at left-back and striker but behind them options are light, especially at the back where Alexandro Bernabei has yet to start a match and was left out of the Champions League squad.

Finding a quality striker to play back-up to Kyogo won’t be easy, signing someone that could outperform the former Vissel Kobe striker could involve a fee pushing towards £10m with the £9m paid for Odsonne Edouard in the summer of 2018 the highest fee ever paid by Celtic.

If you think Celtic are going to pay £10M for a striker, then you haven’t been paying attention to the Cost of Living Crisis!
Neither do Celtic buy players who specialise in particular positions any more – we sell them! Celtic are a Selling club. They buy to sell at a profit. That is clear!
Hearing the Champions League Anthem play at Parhead is a manegerial outcome.
Tick the box, hear the tills ring and move on. That is it!
If anything else is going to happen, you will see signs in the sky!
A star may appear and you may follow it. And if it comes to rest over Celtic Park, then maybe, maybe something is about to happen!
    But don’t bet on it!

There’s a striker at hearts that would do the damage, knows the game and wouldn’t cost much.

  • Charlie Green says:

Can’t help feeling if a goalkeeper isn’t one of them then it doesn’t matter who they sign.

So in the summer we needed a striker, left back and GK but didn’t get them. Instead we bought 3 cbs, 3 midfielders and 3 wingers. This window we still need those 3 positions and we go sign another winger to give us 8 wingers, 9 midfielders and 6 centre backs.
