As Ibrox statements crank up the paranoia Celtic silently approve of Turnbull offside decision

Earier this evening there was a third Ibrox statement over the Abdallah Sima offside from Saturday’s defeat from Celtic.

Following the lead from their fan media partners the Ibrox board has been screaming at Willie Collum to cover the multiple failings in the match from Philippe Clement.

Urged on by Sky Sports who think that Kris Boyd is some sort of authority on the Scottish game the attack has been relentless over a handball incident next to a player who was clearly offside earlier in the move,

Sky Sports had audio access to the conversation between VAR and Nick Walsh but have been selective over what they have released, with direct quotes not permitted as Andy Walker discovered last season.

Just as typically Celtic have remained utterly silent on the real refereeing scandal of the day where assistant referee Callum Spence and Walsh acted very differently.

Fearful of ending a run of 73 SPFL matches without conceding a penalty Walsh seemed incapable of applying the Laws of the Game when James Tavernier bundled David Turnbull over three minutes into stoppage time.

Perhaps sensing his referee colleague getting into bother Spence decided to raise his flag incorrectly for offside as John Souttar was breaking free with several Celtic players out of position.

Spence had a more obvious offside call to make with the Sima incident but chose to keep his flag down.

In trademark style Celtic have kept quiet on the matter when everyone knows that the time to make your points is when your team has won.

Not a peep has come out of the Celtic boardroom, no request for audio, no nudging into the background of Spence to accompany the fact that Walsh works on the education of Murray Park starlets on a daily basis at Boclair Academy.

Spence is from the Aberdeen Refereeing Association.

While the Ibrox PR machine plays to the gallery a clear message is going out to referee and VAR’s with Andrew Dallas complying yesterday against Kilmarnock.

Celtic’s silence gives the green light for continued honest mistakes against Brendan Rodgers side, only after an extreme fan reaction to a decision will Celtic dig out the surprised and disappointed template before quietly slipping to the back of the bus as John Beaton and Steven McLean can testify to.

The latest statement from “the rangers” explains at no time was offside mentioned by the VAR referee….and……the haste at which no penalty was given … let’s take both accusations from the latest “the rangers” statement…..1st let’s say he does tell walsh no penalty offside…in that scenario he agrees with the village idiots boyd and millar… both said the block is after the the pull on the jersey… so a penalty for them….2nd the VAR seeeends theeeee onnnnnn fielllllld reeeeffffeeerrree tttooo ttthhee VAR monitor hhheee wwwaaalllkkkss bbaaaccckk aaaannndddd pppoooiiinnnnnttttsss tttooo ttthhee ssspppooottt only for VAR to tell him a check for a possible offside which when checked penalty disallowed…as the village idiots said you go with the first incident.. so would there be NO statement from “the rangers” of course there would… just the words would be different… just because we don’t send a statement (by god we have good reason to) does not show them standing up for their club….if the SMSM where professional they would make them look like the fools that they are….. unfortunately we don’t…if we done the same thing everyone would read, hear, see.howfoolish we are because of the SMSM

    Complicit in their silence.

Nobody has commented on the obvious typo error! (below)
Why would you put a colon between NEW and Rangers?
Even worse, the “Old Firm” mentioned hasn’t been extant since half of that Old Firm (Rangers FC) died in 2012. This comes from a supposed news outlet (The National).
Whatever happened to good old Scottish education?

NEW: Rangers have issued a statement after a controversial refereeing decision at Saturday’s Old Firm.

And at times like this, many supporters look at our Board to do something.

    But, it’s just weird, IMO.

We have a fanatical, global support who are proud to be CFC fans not just

for the footy but for the club’s history, its founding principles, and its tendency to

    play fair.

…and yet we seem to have acquired the Board of a different club?!

A Board which is disconnected from the support, is repeatedly tone-deaf,

and comes across as hopelessly conflicted / compromised?

A UK plc with Directors who – allegedly – are failing in their fiduciary duties,

    to ALL their shareholders,

by wilfully ignoring corrupt practices in their industry, and which impact their business?

    • the maister says:

Difficult to see how we have been financially disadvantaged by obviously biased refereeing decisions.
      I mean specfic examples!?

Editor: Bobby Madden’s farewell performance in the 2022 Scottish Cup Final. Lundstram given free reign to do anything he likes alongside other bizarre decisions that went one way. Knowing Madden was offski the SFA should never have given him that gift, needless to say Nicholson was on mute.

Mr heated driveway and the rest of the masons don’t want the scum out of buisiness for whatever reason, but it is very strange, and if the rotten mob get collum banned from their games we should go all out to expose who thy support and ask for a ban on them all.HH

Our Board have been warned off about saying anything that contradicts or criticises Sevco…As Sevco obviously have the negatives ..or the e-mails…
or the video…or the screenshot…But for certain…THEY HAVE SOMETHING and our Board won’t do a thing..THEY ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE… Wake up Celtic supporters…this has gone on too long.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Oh I woke up a good while ago Terrence…

But aye – I very much hear your call to The Celtic support in general !
