Keith Jackson has claimed that Scott McKenna is not a transfer target for Celtic during the January transfer window.

The defender is out of favour at Nottingham Forest, with his contract expiring in the summer it seems to be only a matter of time before he leaves the City Ground.

Nat Phillips has left Celtic to return to Liverpool with Yuki Kobayashi expected to join Harry Kewell in Japan at Yokohama F Marinos.

Gus Lagerbielke has been rumoured to be surplus to requirements but that still leaves Celtic with four centre backs in Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki to compete for two places.

In the Daily Record Jackson reports:

Record Sport can reveal Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has not placed the name of the former Aberdeen stopper on his list of defensive targets.

At the start of December Welsh and Scales had barely featured but pitched into high profile matches both showed that they are ready and capable of stepping in.

Interestingly Jackson uses the phrase ‘defensive targets’, central defence does seem to be well covered but the wording suggests that there could be targets at full-back or goalkeeper.
