Clueless Mark Lawwell’s Double Whammy

As well as the need to bring in quality a recurring theme from Brendan Rodgers has been to get the size of the Celtic squad reduced.

When Daniel Kelly came off the bench against Buckie Thistle on Sunday he became the 34th player to taste first team action.

Even with nine substitutes allowed Rodgers is leaving upto 10 players out of every squad despite training through the week with the first team as they build up to critical fixtures.

The 34 players doesn’t include Ben Siegrist or James McCarthy, both of whom are under contract until May 2025 with virtually no chance of any club offering to match their salaries after 18 months without competitive action. Joey Dawson and Dane Murray are both out of action, recovering from long term injuries.

Recruitment chief Mark Lawwell is responsible for growing the Celtic squad to ridiculous levels.

In central defence Celtic are currently paying out salaries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh, Gus Lagerbielke and Yuke Kobayashi.

It is a similar situation on the wings with Liel Abada, Daizen Maeda, Luis Palma, Yang Hyun-jun, Marco Tilio, Mikey Johnston and James Forrest competing for two places. In trademark fashion Nicolas Kuhn has been added to that list, the only January arrival to date.

Having recruited heavily over three transfer windows, almost all in the projects market, Lawwell Mini has failed miserably to clear the decks of the deadwood cluttering up Lennoxtown.

So far the only departure has been the loan deal of Kwon Hyeok-kyu to St Mirren, with the careers of Rodgers and Stephen Robinson regularly overlapping it can be assumed that the Kwon deal was completed at managerial level.

With the exception of Alistair Johnston, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Luis Palma and Maik Nawrocki all of the players brought in by Lawwell Junior could leave tomorrow without any impact on the first team squad.

Unfortunately it seems that with his very limited contacts and knowledge of footballers, Celtic’s Head of Recruitment and Scouting is equally out of his depth in moving players out as he is at bringing them in.

I warned you all about The Fat Controller years ago..Lawwell Sen & Jun are destroying our club..It’s the same every window..Don’t bank on Rodgers being there next season..

Joe, the PLC is being run like a private company as if owned by Desmond and run by his placeman Lawwell with Nicholson in turn being Lawwell’s placeman. I wonder, and would love to know, what happened with McKay, a strange one that.

It looks like Lawwell’s son has been ‘appointed’ instead of going through a proper selection process with other suitably qualified (which Lawwell’s son doesn’t appear to be) candidates This, with suitable proof, is actionable. Desmond and Lawwell’s shenanigans must be brought to an end and they won’t do it by themselves. I can see us throwing the League again to strengthen the pretence that the O** F*** still exists.

Why you may ask? Well just ask Desmond and Lawwell how much they stand to gain if their joint dream of the O** F*** being accepted into the EPL ever comes to pass. THAT’s why!

Celtic FC is just a channel they’re happy to abuse in their self-seeking, utterly disgusting, leech-like manner and they’ve both leeched enough already
    from OUR club.

Come on Celtic FC supporters and shareholders, take a stance and put an end to this treachery, once and for all.

    HH

PS, by what mechanism was Desmond’s son elected to our Board?

SO, a PLC with a majority shareholder gets his son on the Board and Lawwell gets a plum position for HIS son too. A PLC? REALLY??????

Editor: Desmond Mini isn’t a director, he turns up at the AGM to give the impression that Daddy is interested. The fairway conditions in Sandy Lane are of more interest to DD than another horrendous transfer window at Celtic.

When it all falls apart DD will step in, appoint a new manager then step back as the Chairman, Head of Recruitment and CEO impose their strategy to keep the company one point in front or behind their cherished O** F*** business partners.

Whatever it takes to keep the decisions of 2012 away from prying eyes.

    • TicToc says:

Joe, I thought Ross Desmond was a director, are you sure he’s not?
Anyway, point is the PLC is being run in a manner which makes it look like a private company and I think, with appropriate evidence, the ‘usual suspects’ can be called out here and action taken, in which case it’s better not to reveal too much more on here?

      • TicToc says:

Sorry Joe, of course you were right that Ross Desmond is NOT a director of the PLC. I guess he’s Desmond’s proxy at the AGM if, in fact, that’s allowed?

  • Bob (original) says:

On the face of it, the CEO of a plc would be obligated to punt a

senior manager who had [allegedly] included significantly, false information

on his CV to secure his position?

But would Nicholson even consider that?

And would the overbearing Chairman dictate that his son was

‘untouchable’ – even if his son was clearly unqualified for his role?

Nepotism – especially in a plc – is contrary to any measure of good governance.

And, Accountant PL and Lawyer Nicholson would know this only too well… 🙁

    • TicToc says:

“Nepotism – especially in a plc – is contrary to any measure of good governance.

And, Accountant PL and Lawyer Nicholson would know this only too well… ”

Isn’t it time to call their bluff? The arrogance and contempt shown to our shareholders and supporters is sickening but if they’ve ‘crossed a line’ then action is required.
They may think they’re untouchable but I’d suggest they have a case to answer.

  • Jim Duffy says:

The only way to call their bluff tictoc is start boycotting games ,buying STs merchandise etc,I know that sounds very harsh but for the life of me the desmond and liewell dynasty’s will be at Celtic forever unless the only ones who can oust them are the fans and they do something about it.

Imagine in a game where we are well ahead of it’s on TV the fans at a signal all walked out and made it known to reporters that we just don’t trust this board to run out club properly,£70 million in the bank , sevco hot on our heels in a dire league.

I can see sevco beating us to the title and then it really will be tits up but the damage will have been done if they get a hold of CL monies

    • TicToc says:

Jim, IMHO the BEST way, as most of our supporters want to be there and may be life-long Tims who’ll baulk at giving up STs is NOT to give up their STs but to stop buying merchandise and contact the club to say why. I’ve had thousands of pounds worth of decent Celtic merchandise but told my wider family, NO MORE, and why.
The power of the supporter, again IMHO, is in protest. Huge numbers outside CP at every home game with banners inside also. Call out Lawwell and the 5-Way fraud. Call out Nicholson for being the lapdog he is. Call out Desmond for being the flea on society that he is. JUST KEEP PROTESTING, wildly and flagrantly until the issues at CP are beyond the control of local (hun) media and the scum within CP are hounded out.
It’s just business and it’s OUR business.

Start boycotting games, STOP buying STs and merchandise.

  • John A says:

A sack the board campaign but continuing to support the team is my view. Tell them at every single match win lose or draw what we think of them. The pressure needs applied, it’s prob too late for change this season so it’s fingers crossed for the league. Calmac O’Reilly and Kyogo injuries and we are fooked

    • TicToc says:

Agreed John. My comment to Jim above was typed before I got to your comment, but we’re all on the same side here. A distillation of all our views would create a basis for banners etc. going forward.
I’ll certainly chip in my few quid for banners and come up to CP for protests whenever I can.

  • Davie says:

    Sack the lot.
    Support the team.
Let the board know it at every match, before he match, at half time, end of match.
Cheer the players as loud as you can, keep the players heads up.
The bonus money receivers will be happy to keep cash in the bank to line their own pockets, that’s a guaranteed profit bonus.
Window after window passes with players moving on and not replaced.
I’m sure we have plenty home grown projects in the B team that can be developed without wasting millions on foreign projects.
