Rodgers gives unconvincing reply to transfer issue

After another insipid performance, this time at home to Ross County, the transfer market was almost forgotten by Celtic fans.

A flat, predictable performance over 90 plus minutes drew attention and criticism to tactics and a style of play that opposition managers are increasingly able to counter.

Going into the January window there was an expectation that a couple of new arrivals could add energy and excitement to the team. With only another winger in Nicolas Kuhn added to the squad so far virtually nothing has changed since the transfer window ‘swung open’.

There was plenty to digest yesterday from a dodgy pitch, two missed penalties and an underwhelming performance that pushed transfer activity down the post-match agenda.

Listening in to Rodgers’ post match interview on Radio Scotland touching on transfer activity, the Herald reports the Celtic boss saying:

Unless I am a mind reader and can read what people are thinking or doing while I am concentrating on a game, I have no answers for you.

Celtic have until midnight on Thursday to conclude any transfer activity, after losing to Lazio in November Rodgers made it very obvious that he was in need of additional quality.

Signing Sydney van Hooijdonk on loan from Bologna seems to be the only live speculation about a new signing with hoops fans anxious to see change and improvements over the five remaining days of the transfer window.

Unfortunately Joe, we have 30 minutes less. Transfer business must be concluded by 23.30 not that it will make any difference to us we’ve had a whole month to conclude some meaningful deals but under Lawless Snr/Jnr what did we expect.

  • Bob (original) says:

IF we were in the same financial dire straits as sevco,

then you could understand the reluctance to commit to

bringing in new players, and before excess players had departed.

But, we all know the club is swimming in cash.

And, to really piss us off,

sevco seem to have gone about their transfer business more

    effectively?

A player was brought in 2 days BEFORE the derby game, and I

think they’ve brought in 2 more players since?

The sevco new recruits might be mince – but they have arrived at ibrox.

And, if it’s ‘so difficult’ for us to buy quality players in January,

then loanees are an acceptable alternative, if only to season end?

Why did Fran Alonso leave? Answer the clowns that runs us, no backing.
