A Celtic fan on Twitter has shared some details about an interesting chat with one of Brendan Rodgers’ brothers on a flight from Glasgow to Luton on Saturday night.
The alleged conversation could be completely fictitious but the fan doesn’t appear to be attention seeking and doesn’t give away any blockbuster details.
Several of Rodgers’ family are fanatical Celtic fans, it is entirely possible that one would have been flying back to Luton after Saturday’s draw with Kilmarnock.
Got chatting to a very nice Irish fella on the flight home to Luton last after the game yesterday giving him my opinion on the Celtic game & the way we are playing and being run just now..turned out it was Brendan Rodgers brother ?? Was very interesting chat though haha

The gist of the Twitter conversation is that the Celtic manager, and his brother, are as frustrated as most fans about the way that this season is turning out.
From the Mallorca conversations with Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay to a dropping 10 points in 10 weeks it is hard to imagine that this scenario was portrayed as the former Leicester boss was lured back to the club he abruptly left in February 2019.
No one knows better than Rodgers the workings of Celtic, the devotion to the Balance Sheet and how the hierarchy look to deliver success with as little investment as possible with funds gathering interest in the bank the priority at the expense of the team on the park.
Whatever has happened inbetween signing a three year contract and yesterday’s handover at the top of the SPFL Premiership Rodgers is heavily implicated in this season’s decline.
As soon as he felt the goalposts were being moved he should have got back in touch with Dermot Desmond.
With 12 SPFL matches left to play fans are already resigned to handing the SPFL title over to a 12-year-old club that was such a shambles that they sacked their manager before the first round of fixtures were completed.
Who is mainly to blame for Celtic's disastrous season?
Chairman- The decline started with his appointment
Manager- Not the same guy, weak and more powerless
Recruitment- you can't get over four disastrous transfer windows
It’s a tough one i guess BR has got some questions to answer for sure but I got the impression after that chat whoever the board put in place as manager they’re working with one hand tied behind there backs

?? was a shock but tbh it just felt like the same convo I have with a lot of supporters just now..trust me I’d already probably said a bit to much before he told he was his brother I even quoted the rinse & repeat football we’re playing at the minute ??
— Paul McGowan (@maddog20201888) February 18, 2024
Yeah ? but so did I as well
— Paul McGowan (@maddog20201888) February 18, 2024
Very pleasant guy and seemed as fed up as me with the game to be honest, and yes he did say one or two things I haven’t said on here but it was very interesting ??

No mate I actually didn’t ask his name as it was a quick 10 minute chat but was the double of him

It’s not in the least interesting if he (Paul McGowan) is not gonna say it on here !
Is that “well played Brendan”? 🙂
Our manager is as pissed off – and aligned with the supporters and their
complaints?
But, it didn’t come from Brendan!
Just looking at the team play since the beginning of the season [?]
it’s so different compared to when Ange was manager.
For most of Ange’s time, the players looked like they were really
enjoying their football, full of energy, with lots of smiles and obviously
a strong team – and squad – spirit.
Now, it’s grim football and the players look lost / disinterested.
A lot of people at the club are not performing.
IF I had a magic wand, I’d still go for the nuclear option:
get shot of DD, [& the other 3 or 4 main shareholders],
PL, the WHOLE Board, the recruitment team,
the manager and all the coaching staff!
Sweep them all out and start again.
Might take a season or two to sort out, but the club
and the supporters would know that we will see the
benefits in the long run.
A main benefit could be a culture change:
– driven from top to bottom throughout the club?
And there would be regular – direct – communication with the support
to keep them informed of developments.
🙁
Pray tell, exactly how do you “get rid” of biggest shareholder DD?
IMO one way would be to starve the board out ie not buying STs, merchandise or stadium catering. Sounds easy huh? I doubt you could get 5000 to stop buying STs, as well those who do attend games, stopping buying the dire fare available in stadium catering and there are those who everything Celtic who maybe collect programmes.
The board know the money not spent would be worth it to maintain their positions in the ivory tower.

Can anyone honestly say that the team doesn’t lack motivation, drive and unity of purpose ? The main ingredient in the cake is missing.
A true Celtic supporter would wish to bury Sevco along side Rangers and would want the best for the team with reagrds to the manager and players. By this crteria Lawwell and the rest of the board are not fans.
Go figure.
