Stephen Welsh appears to have made a full recovery from the hamstring injury that forced him to be replaced after 66 minutes of the midweek win over Hibs.

Tightness in his hamstring was reported as the issue with Maik Nawrocki coming off the bench to partner Liam Scales.

With Cameron-Carter-Vickers already out injured losing another central defender would have been a major worry for Brendan Rodgers.

On Saturday morning Celtic released a training video from Lennoxtown ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren with Welsh prominent in all of the drills and exercises.

Asked about Welsh’s injury after Wednesday’s win over Hibs Rodgers told Sky Sports:

He felt tight in his hamstring. So, we will have to see that with the medical team tomorrow.

Gus Lagerbielke would be the next in line central defender if Welsh wasn’t fit but it looks like it will be between the Academy graduate and Nawrocki to partner Scales.

With Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnstone both out injured Rodgers will be forced to go with his back up full-backs in Tony Ralston and Alexandro Bernabei.

Sunday’s match will be played to a finish with extra-time and penalties if necessary.
