Celtic have provided the first insight into the new training facility at Barrowfield.

A full size indoor pitch will be the centrepiece of the complex but there will also be outdoor grass and artificial pitches.

Work is underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of this year for the new look home to the Academy and Ladies teams.

With no proper indoor training facility at Lennoxtown it would seem natural for the first team squad to also use the new Barrowfield facility through the winter months.

Prior to the 2007 move to Lennoxtown the first team trained at Barrowfield, often getting kitted out at Celtic Park then travelling by car along London Road.

The current set up at Barrowfield offers good quality grass and artificial pitches but is short in terms of medical facilities and a proper gymnasium.

With those included alongside high quality changing facilities the teams will certainly be as well prepared as possible.

The only disappointment is that a small stadium isn’t included, as things stand the B team and Ladies side are playing home matches on the plastic pitch at Airdrie.

Lol bragging about a new training complex while the footballing side of the club aka the football team itself is throwing players in to play at the weekend and midweek that couldn’t get a game for Fruin Street Stank Lifters.
COMEDY GOLD doesn’t even scratch the surface, but in saying that Liewell and Co are laughing all the way to bank with season book money and European champions league money.
Ah hope they enjoy it and enjoy spending it because there won’t be anymore champions league money to spend, though the season books will keep them ticking over for a number of years before they champions league money again.

    Flogging Lennoxtown, perhaps?

Ha ha, love the “this development will align Celtic with the worlds best.”
Pity the manager, players and first team coaches are as far away from the worlds best as we have seen for a long time.
    Bloody club’s priorities are ridiculous.

  • Dan says:

Build a new training complex so we can upskill the players to keep the ball at the edge of their own box longer, slow down their play to give them time to think about what defender they will pass to before it returns to the keeper, drill the wingers to NEVER head for the byline, make sure even more crosses go out for a throw at the other side. Keep working harder with midfielders and wingers to make sure they never react to Kyogos runs and risk a pass where possession could be lost, they must know to play safe and go back and keep that ball.
This complex will make sure we can work on these principles indoors during cold winter months.
    Great plan Mr Lawell

  • KC67 says:

Like the rest of the club under Lawwell it’ll be tuppence ha’penny.

Guess the interim are due out. How depressingly predictable.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

It’s nice progress and welcome but with the current incompetent staff it’ll just be a waste of money…

When was the last decent prospect that ‘made it’ at Celtic –

If they trained in Barlinnie Prison Yard it would just be the same failure rate with the ones that seem to be there at the time being and this while back !
