Brendan Rodgers has opened up on the divisions across Celtic.

Soon after the Green Brigade dispute was resolved the transfer window opened, a look at social media this week shows a range of emotions closer to anger than frustration, not many online fans are happy with the direction that the club is moving in.

Outwith their obligations at the AGM and with the Stock Market there is a virtual vow of silence from the Celtic board, now well into his third year as CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t even given an interview to the in-house media outlets.

When Peter Lawwell was announced as Chairman the news was kept to a website statement, there was nothing put out on the club’s social media accounts.

Before and after every match Rodgers has to face the media, giving separate interviews to broadcasters and old school newspapers.

Fronting it all for Celtic at difficult times is a huge task, speaking to the daily newspapers The Scotsman reports Rodgers saying:

I always wanted to come back to Celtic and I knew it wasn’t going to feel straight away like the first time because people were hurt.

And they probably still are. There’s probably still a wee bit of people thinking, ‘How long is he going to be here?’ and ‘Can we trust him?’ But I want to give everything and I want to be here as long as I possibly can be.

If I can have success here with the team and we can look forward and into Europe, then brilliant. It’s just navigating a way through all of this and doing my very best to pull people together.

I’ve always said that if I was the major problem here, then it’s not what I’d want for the club. When I do leave here, I’ll always support Celtic. But I now want to be here so I can really see the benefits in the short-term and longer term and hopefully take us through this period. I certainly wasn’t away having crisis talks.

That last comment was in relation to the WhatsApp message last weekend claiming that the Celtic boss was in Switzerland mulling over his resignation.

Rodgers may not directly use social media but he is well aware of what is going on, the views, thoughts and opinions of the supporters that funds every aspect of Celtic.

Before today’s match against Aberdeen BBC Scotland and Sky Sports will have access to the Celtic boss, afterwards everyone will get a chance with Rodgers tasked with finding answers for those behind the scenes.

That’s actually more encouraging than anything we’ve heard to date. The perception was that he’d come back and underneath last season’s treble success he’d found a dysfunctional club with a threadbare squad and that rather than try to fix it, he’d jump ship at the first opportunity or simply walk after banging heads with our esteemed chairman again. This makes it sound like he’s willing to stay, dig down and do the hard yards.

When so many people want you gone, so many people are openly hostile to you, it tells me Peter is on a mission that he won’t step down and enjoy his heated driveway and many millions. It certainly isn’t to help Celtic progress.

That we as Celtic supporters looking on find ourselves listening to this very honest appraisal from Brendan is utterly utterly SHAMEFUL, SCANDALOUS & PREPOSTEROUS !

Where the fcuk did it all go so wrong ?

I think we all know the answer to that one…

At least Higgins (Bernard) had the sense not to come to the party where he wasn’t welcome –

What a shame that certain others never had such intelligence !
