Kieran Tierney has an open mind to his future with his Arsenal contract running until May 2026.

During the summer there was speculation over a return to Celtic with Brendan Rodgers commenting on the possibility.

A transfer fee of over £20m plus wages in or around his current deal would seem to be way out of reach for the Scottish champions but Tierney is one of those players that will always be linked with Celtic wherever his career takes him.

During the summer he did move out on loan but south to San Sebastian rather than back to Celtic with a season long loan to Real Sociedad.

Injuries have restricted Tierney to 15 appearances for Sociedad, he will miss tonight’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint Germain but is expected to be back in action soon

The door seems to be closing on his Arsenal career but in an interview with the Daily Mail he is in no rush to make the next decision in his career.

Will his future lead back to Arsenal? ‘It’s hard to say,’ he says. ‘I loved my time there and I still have two years on the contract.

I am very grateful to Arsenal. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I am absolutely loving it here. I feel I have adapted quite well and I hope I can return the faith the club have shown.

This is a very, very talented squad with world-class players and so many have come from the academy. It’s an amazing story.’

In the interview he seems very happy with his life and football with the Basque club, finding the move easier to handle than his 2019 switch from Lanarkshire to London.

During the summer there were claims that Tierney was homesick but the move to Sociedad has killed that notion stone dead.

The Celtic talk is likely to resurface again in the summer but until he is able to shake off the injury problems with a season of 40 plus appearances it seems unlikely that he will reverse the move made in July 2019.
