After a three day media storm that had created phone-ins, statements and various levels of outrage last night Jane Lewis was again covering Celtic for BBC Scotland.

With no invite sent to that broadcaster for Tuesday’s pre-match conference Lewis had the task of interviewing the Celtic boss pre and post match.

Ahead of the match all was predictable as the team news, opposition and the usual issues were covered without reference to the media storm that had followed Sunday’s interview at Motherwell.

After Celtic’s 7-1 win nothing could go wrong, it was perfect interviewing conditions with much to purr over.

Most folk listening in were wondering if Lewis and Rodgers could make reference to Sunday and the aftermath- they weren’t left disappointed as the Celtic boss ended the interview in style.

Jane Lewis: Just finally was that performance coming do you think or did something spark it? Did you kind of say something kind of midweek, em maybe to get the players fired up for this kind of, kind of match?

Brendan Rodgers: “It certainly wasn’t what I said to you!”

The media circuit moves on to Friday and previewing the trip to Tynecastle, with Sky Sports covering that match the Celtic boss will be busy with pre match interviews to club media, BBC and Sky Sports, the same rota afterwards as well as the all-in media conference open to newspapers.

I noticed last night that when a 2nd ball found itself rebounding onto the pitch at a Celtic throw in the Dundee number 16 made a conscious decision to actually step over the ball when it would have been easier to tap it out of play.

After the offending ball has been removed Celtic took the throw in and went up the park and put the ball in the net.

However, the referee made his way over to the number 16 who was still around the same area as he had previously been and told him in no uncertain terms he was marking his card and not to fuck about like that again.

I noticed his team mates seemed to get the message as well, so fair play to the ref last night.
Not often l find cause to give any of the any kind of praise.
