In a bizarre twist as the transfer window closes the manager of East Kilbride has taken time out to criticise Celtic’s recruitment.

Mick Kennedy’s side is currently at the top of the Lowland League and well on course for the Play Offs and the chance of a place in the SPFL.

East Kilbride have beaten Celtic B three times this season, famously last season Kennedy led Darvel to a Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen with the Dons now searching for their second manager since that result.

Kennedy is a keen user of X (Twitter) but it is virtually unknown for the manager of one football club to volunteer his thoughts on a critical aspect of how another club operates.

Celtic fans have flooded X with views, discussion and criticism of the club’s activities during the transfer window, it seems that the draw of the debate has drawn in a football manager operating four levels below- and a potential League Cup opponent for the hoops in August.

Kennedy’s assistant manager, Si Ferry is the host of the popular Open Goal podcast.

Well he is only stating the obvious.

What gets me is people talking about “backups” for Kyogo, Taylor, McGregor etc. If we are only ever buying backups how do we improve ?.

We should be targeting guys who are better than we have to make the team better not guys who are inferior.

As soon as we make changes in a match the standard in play drops. That’s why we struggled against The Rangers who were down to ten men, in the last fifteen minutes because the guys we brought on weren’t good enough.

Our philosophy should be: when we buy, then we buy better than we have. When we sell we by better than we’ve sold.

We are now in a position where the squad is crammed with inferior players and the first team is getting poorer.

When you appoint someone as head of recruitment who has no qualifications or experience for the role, what do you expect?

Lawwell and son are running the club into the ground.

Celtic is a Scottish Institution. It is an integral part of Scottish history. It is a part of what Scotland is, in the past and in the present!

Scotland would not be what it is today without Celtic FC. It has a huge influence on Scottish culture.

Kids growing up look to Celtic for a direction in their lives. It has as much influence on them as their school lives!

No-one in Scotland does not know of Celtic FC!

So, it sickens me to think that this great Club is run by a few individuals who are Running the Club on Empty, for maximum financial profit and minimum benefit to the rest of the Scottish football community!

That is what I think the East Kilbride manager is saying!

Our Club is a Sleeping Giant; but for all the wrong reasons.

It has fallen asleep! It is dormant! It is not working as it should be!

It should be an asset to Scottish football. It should have the best manager and coaches, the best recruitment strategies, the best player development models, the best players and a team that can compete on an international stage – like it did in the past!

Sadly, it doesn’t. Sadly it doesn’t even make the effort to do so!

It is bogged down by the chains of unambitious, inward-looking governance and underinvestment.

The writing is on the wall
    .
Change for better is required at Celtic!

If you cannot see this, then you are a part of the problem.

Celtic must be allowed to flourish!

The Maister – That’s a very good post indeed !

Thanks very much Clachnacuddin and the Hoops!

We (we) are all what, third generation Scots and Celtic FC is in our blood. It is our heritage, or a good part of it. It is sad to see it overseen by an
        “Absentee Landlord”,
milking it for profit and his local money-counters in suits!

It could as well be used to pay rich mens Country Club subs!

Rich men, International Capital, or Globalism, does and shows little care for local concerns. Rich men are more likely to line their pockets with local money than show interest in local concerns.

To oust them will take sacrifice from those who have concern for their Club.

But they are only transient custodians of our Club. They can walk away but they can’t take it with them!

Joe, A prompt reminded me. A restructure is neede of the Academy and the Celtic Bs.
Fans call them the Reserves. A misnomer. They are a very ordinary team. What if they
were a crack team? They should be. I contend that players to enter the Reserves should be selected after they get their Senior School Qualifications at 16/17/18 years old. At this age Coaches can more positively identify Football Players that can best apply themselves and make it to the Pro level.
I had two fairly young relatives that were coached by by a famous EPL Club named Academy.
They were made to feel elite and priviliged. Most of the parents were not poor. Many kids were not
exceptional talents. In my book it was a scam. A local district club coach, properly trained, would be good enough.
Celtic needs quality reserves. Quality is the latest buzz word.
