Seven months after joining Celtic Marco Tilio is delighted to have rejoined Melbourne City on loan for the A-League season.

The winger was signed wile injured, missed Celtic’s pre-season training and the Champions League squad and is now back in Australia with 27 minutes playing time, over two substitute appearances, on his record.

Alongside Kwon Hyeok-kyu, now on loan at St Mirren, Tilio was one of the strangest of Celtic’s seven summer signings.

Just after signing his five year contract Jota was sold to Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia but there were two more wingers arriving at Celtic, Yang Hyung-jun and Luis Palma arriving during the same window. Another winger, Nicolas Kuhn, was signed in January.

There was no comment from Brendan Rodgers accompanying the signing announcement (June 30), discussing his new manager Tilio told the Celtic website:

I did have a chat with him a few days ago and I was really excited to have the opportunity to speak to him, and the plan the club has for me and for the team is a great opportunity as I said I couldn’t deny, and I’m really looking forward to getting over there to Scotland.

I’m just finalising a few things and I’m trying to pack up everything here in Australia, and as soon as I can, I’ll head over to Scotland, meet all the team, the whole club.

I’m really excited about that and hopefully I can get over there as soon as possible and get right into the thick of things.

Tilio is currently with the Australia squad at the Asian Cup in Qatar, returning to the A-League it is hard to imagine that he will return to Celtic more likely to work his way into the first team.

David Turnbull is expected to leave Celtic today with the Daily Mail reporting that a deal has been agreed with Cardiff City.
