Respected poster M1K3Y89 has backed up the rumour that Mark Lawwell is working his notice as Head of First Team Recruitment and Scouting at Celtic.

It was a job that Peter’s lad was horribly underqualified for, after a few years working in the background as the Information and Content Manager for the website of the City Football Group his Celtic appointment was announced in May 2022 with a 1 July start date.

The downturn in signings was clear to see with most of his signings comparable to when Daddy was shelling out fortunes on Boli Bolingoli, Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas, Vakoun Bayo, Marian Shved and many others. Not forgetting the classic sign of downsizing when John McGinn was deemed not good enough with Youssouf Mulumbu snapped up instead.

After the nightmare summer of signing seven projects it seems that Brendan Rodgers put his foot down in January with Nicolas Kuhn signed before the last gasp loan for Adam Idah was announced.

Having highlighted the need for four quality signings Mark was unable to find 22-year-old’s costing less than £3m to match the requirements of the manager.

M1K3Y89 rarely joins in the debates on Kerrydale Street, when he steps in folk tend to sit up and take notice with more than a decade of very accurate observations in the bank. At lunchtime he backed up last night’s claim by Remy McSwain.

If Mark is leaving his job it will be a small step forward but as long as his Dad is Chairman with his former assistant as CEO there is unlikely to be any noticeable improvement in any area of the club.

Since October 2003 every appointment at the club has been agreed by the current Chairman which has led to stagnation in every department.

The appointment of Rodgers in 2016 brought instant improvements to the playing side but two years later the McGinn affair demonstrated that the CEO was back in charge.

Even his disastrous stewardship of the club through the 20/21 season failed to convince the elderly board that time was up on Lawwell, after 18 months lurking in the shadows he was confirmed as Chairman.

Four horrendous transfer windows have almost wiped out the brilliant work carried out by Dom McKay during 10 weeks as CEO, with Mark heading down the driveway it can be assumed that no advance work is underway for the summer transfer window when Matt O’Riley is expected to be the main big money departure.

Celtic were last week expected to announce their interim financial results for the six months to 31 December. With £100m expected in the bank and poverty on the pitch the exit of Mark should take some attention away from the architects of this season’s painful steps backwards.

If it’s true that’s one in the eye for his auld man. £20 million wasted in the summer, no doubt he would have asked to leave rather than getting sacked for rank incompetence.

Now we need the other Lawwell and the rest of the parasites on the board removed.

Could be the start of something. Lawwell clan out, Football Department in!

Desmond needs to say goodbye to his dad as well, otherwise its disaster after disaster as far as the goods on the pitch are concerned, and that’s what the punters are paying for.
Money in the bank is good, but worth nothing if experienced players are not brought in to make a charge at europe, again, that’s what the punters want to see.
    We’ve waited long enough. H H
