Statement FC turn their anger to UEFA

Statement FC are back to what they do best by humouring fans with pointless statements with UEFA today’s target.

At the turn of the year Willie Collum was the target for three statements following an offside decision in their Glasgow Derby defeat to Celtic.

Today the last 16 draw was made for the Europa League which will provide a significant fund raiser for the club, loyal bears can expect to stump up around £50 to see their side take on Benfica in the second leg.

With the purpose of the competition to prove broadcasters with two slots on a Thursday it was always going to be a 5050 call over whether the Ibrox leg kicks off at 5.45 or 8pm.

Having been given the early slot a statement soon followed:

RANGERS, on behalf of our supporters, are disappointed to have learned our Round of 16 Europa League home match with Benfica, on Thursday March 14, will kick-off at 17:45.

Despite a robust case being made to UEFA for the fixture to be played in the traditional 20:00 slot, it is instead to begin significantly earlier, primarily due to broadcaster commitments, and thus likely cause significant inconvenience and disruption to our supporters.

The club fully sympathises with our loyal supporters for the additional sacrifices they may need to make to attend the match, with this issue falling totally outside of our control.

Liverpool, Brighton, Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen have been given the 8pm kick-offs due to their bigger drawing power and appeal to broadcasters.
