The Mark Lawwell quit rumour

According to a well known member of the Kerrydale Street Forum a rumour os going around that Mark Lawwell is working his notice.

After four utterly disastrous transfer windows Celtic fans will be hoping that the clubs Head of First Team Recruitment and Scouting is on gardening leave and being kept away from anything to do with transfers.

Michael Nicholson told Celtic shareholders that Lawwell Mini had been head hunted by Ange Postecoglou but outwith a small number of sycophants no one believed that claim from the Celtic chairman.

While the former Australian national team manager tried to take John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan with him to Spurs he didn’t go anywhere near the talentless son of the current Celtic Chairman.

McSwain pops up now and then on Celtic podcasts, giving the impression that he knows people that know people.

Mini’s career is something of a mystery with zero evidence to back up his Linkedin profile or the claims made by Celtic when his appointment was announced in May 2022.

After signing Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi, Carl Starfelt, Josip Juranovic, Joe Hart, Jota , Cameron Carter-Vickers and Giorgos Giakoumakis in the summer of 2021 Mini snapped up Alexandro Bernabei, Ben Siegrist, Sead Haksabanovic and Oliver Abilgaard a year later.

The drop off was incredible, topped off by seven projects in the summer of 2023 two of which have already been shipped out on loan with Gus Lagerbielke denied his move to Lecce due to an injury to Carter-Vickers.

If Mini does leave Celtic it will almost certainly bring a reaction from the club chairman to strengthen his grip up on the club.

Only a complete boardroom revamp that results in the retirement of the Chairman and his placemen will give Celtic the chance to enter the 21st century of recruitment and give the manager a fighting chance of emulating the European exploits of Copenhagen, Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven.

Next month it will be 20 years since Celtic won a knock-out tie in a UEFA competition with that landmark coming six months after Lawwell became CEO.

Absolutely nothing is known of Mark’s career before he became Head of Scouting and Recruitment at City, unless of course that is a lie on his Linkedin profile.

Don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out, and take that useless fat fuck of a father with you.

Hopefully true.Take his old man,and the rest of the jokers in the boardroom, with him.

Please let this be true. I’m sure the lure of managing one of the bigger EPL clubs was what led to Ange leaving. You have to wonder, though, if there wasn’t also a push factor – i.e. he didn’t want to carry on managing a squad of players, increasingly being recruited by this clown, rather than himself. Clearly this might tarnish his reputation and see any chance of getting to manage a big EPL club drift away.

You can already sense Brendan is thinking along these lines. As much as I and many others have serious issues with his slow, passive, ineffective tactics, I think he’s probably the best manager that we can realistically hope for just now. If he does go, I’d certainly rather it were when the time is right for the club and it is their decision, rather than him deciding to disappear into the night again and leave us in the lurch once more.

“…[Ange]…tried to take John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan with him to Spurs…”

Per above article quote: ML was unwanted by Ange, but it does raise the question:

why did Kenedy and Strachan turn down the chance to work in the EPL?

They both could have joined Ange – if they really wanted.

    So, why didn’t they go?

    Do they lack ambition?

Do they prefer the familiarity and job security at CFC over and above

testing themselves in the ‘best league in the world’?

    [Well, probably the richest league.]

IF our coaches lack ambition for themselves,

how does that translate to the players they are trying to develop…?

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

There is no denying that his recruitment has been utterly appalling…

And Brendan is the manager –

So why can’t he alone pick the players he wants just himself…

Then he’d need to live and die and stand or fall on his own sword if it goes right or wrong !

    begone ya shyster !!!!

  • Adoo Fellaffadyke says:

I would be delighted if it was true. However I feel it would be easier getting rid of COVID than it would be getting rid of the two Lawwell ponces.

    • Tranny Delicious. says:

Covid got rid of the flu. . .. . . . .so don’t be hasty.

Flu made a comeback in the 5th round after getting the smelling salts and now covid has disappeared. If i was a real skeptic i’d say covid and the flu are both one and the same as you never see both of them in the one room at the same time. .. .

Guys a joke.Apart from his disastrous transfer windows he rocks up drunk for a zoom meeting with BR,loses vital paperwork, and is repeatedly late for meetings. Its like a Hollywood parody ffs. They all need to ship out,it’s just doing my head in now.
