Final hurdle completed to major Celtic exit

Liel Abada is reported to have passed a medical as he prepares to join Charlotte FC from Celtic.

The winger has found himself in a unique situation, since returning from injury on December 30 it has seemed inevitable that he will be moving on despite signing a new contract in September.

Events in Gaza have completely overtaken his football career, despite making six appearances for Celtic this year it was clear that things weren’t working out.

Following a seriously under par performance away to Hibs on February 7 Abada has been left out of the Celtic squad in order to clear his mind.

That phrase from Brendan Rodgers can almost be translated into arranging a transfer.

Bogert writes for The Athletic on the MLS, on Twitter he has over 75,000 followers and seems to specialise in transfer details.

According to Transfermarkt the highest fee that Charlotte paid in the 22/23 season was 6m euros to being in Enzo Copetti from Racing Club, everyone else cost 1m euros or less.

Scottish media outlets are reporting a fee of £8-11m for Abada, given the circumstances of only MLS clubs being able to sign the winger that level of fee looks like exceptional business.
