A scan on Callum McGregor’s calf/achilles issue has come back inconclusive.

The midfielder was substituted at half time in the 7-1 win against Dundee then missed the defeat at Hearts last weekend.

Celtic’s trip to Livingston on March 31 has been pencilled in lightly for his return with Brendan Rodgers writing off the two home matches before the international break.

How is Callum McGregor after his scan?

Inconclusive really. I think we had it in our mind anyway that he would miss through to the international break and then take it from there. He travelled for the scan but nothing really showed up in that so much. We will assess it in the next couple of weeks. We just have to see how that feels on a day-to-day basis.

Paulo Bernardo came in for McGregor against Hearts, he was replaced at half time by Kyogo Furuhashi with Daniel Kelly finishing the match alongside Matt O’Riley.

Odin Thiago Holm is the other midfield option open to Rodgers but without McGregor and Reo Hatate the Celtic boss is very short on options for that area of the park.

Bringing the captain back to play on the plastic pitch of Livingston would carry an element of risk, the fixture following that is at Ibrox.
