It took Steven McLean 23 minutes to point to the penalty spot in last night’s Scottish Cup tie at Easter Road.

As Mohamed Diomande burst into the penalty box Jodan Obita was in an awkward position, trying to get a challenge in there was contact between the two players, when the Ibrox midfielder hit the deck McLean had the chance to pint to the penalty spot, he didn’t pause for a moment.

John Lundstrum was first to the rebound to put his side 1-0 up, as the second half progressed Hibs were getting on top with the effect of Thursday’s gruelling match starting to take its toll on the visitors who had started with the same Starting XI.

In an incident very similar to the first half penalty Connor Goldson was second best to the ball as Emiliano Marcondes burst into the penalty area. With the Hibs player at full stretch the former Brighton star applied an extra nudge to his opponent ensuring that he wasn’t getting the chance to shoot, Goldson’s momentum carried him into goalkeeper Jack Butland.

True to form McLean didn’t want to know, play continued in the safe knowledge that there was no chance of Steven McLean on VAR calling his colleague over for a pitchside review.

    An excellent example Ed.!
Technically, there is NO DIFFERENCE between the two penalty claims.
Yet, one was given and one wasn’t!
And the reason that VAR was introduced was to give consistency and transparency., well everyone can see for themselves that the disrepancies are not with the system, but with the personell!
There is a deliberate bias towards on e club – based solely on this one example!
How long are the guardians of the integrity of the sport going to wait before they call this!?
Or are they too, just the same as the rest?

Look into Steven McLeans eyes in that picture. He is avoiding Ronnie’s question. Right?
    Now look into Dallas’s eyes.
He isn’t interested in McLean’s answer to Ronnie’s question: his mind is alrerady made up.
    And there you have it.
Nothing from McLean and Dallas backs him up!
