With the spotlight on John Beaton following his OTT performance at Tynecastle on Sunday a welter of evidence is highlighting the double standards of the Lanarkshire official.
Going back to 2014 when Albion Rovers were denied a Scottish Cup win at Ibrox due to an incredible interpretation of an attack from Bilel Mohsni on the Rovers keeper there has been a pattern to Beaton’s decisions.
Connor Goldson seems to have inherited Mohsni’s immunity in the eyes of the man from the Crown Bar, at the end of last season Aberdeen were the victims as Beaton maintained a run that would eventually reach 74 matches without conceding a penalty in the SPFL.

Starting outside the penalty box, which would result in a red card, Goldson gets hold of Duk and retains that position for about three or our seconds which is a lifetime in football terms.
When one arm doesn’t work, and the Dons forward fails to fall to the ground Goldson uses two arms, around Duk’s waist as he gets into the box, eventually brushing the defender aside.
Beaton watched it all unfold and awarded Aberdeen a corner, he had an assistant with an uninterrupted view of the incident and Steven Kirkland on VAR, all seeing nothing against the Laws of the Game.
