Super Scoreboard opened up in style last night with discussion about the double swoop for James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.
According to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record Steven Gerrard is keen to sign the Ibrox duo to team up with Jack Hendry in the Al Ettifaq defence.
Daily Record readers are being fed the line that the double deal is the talk of the steamie across Saudi Arabia with fans of Al Ettifaq barely able to sleep at night as they prepare to roll out the red carpet for the Ibrox stars.
Mark in Partick has bought into the whole story, as soon as the lines opened last night he was on the phone to share his valuations as listeners burst out laughing.
? “I would actually let them go. Maybe £10m each.”
?? “There is a market the Saudi’s would shop in for £10m but I don’t think they will come to Scottish football and take a 32 and 31 year old.”

At the age of 32 Tavernier knows that there is zero interest from decent leagues in his erratic defending spiced up by taking penalties in every second match.
Winging it for two seasons thanks to the generosity of Scottish referees Goldson, a year younger than Captain Disappointed, discovered in May 2022 that even as a free agent there was no interest in his defensive skillset.
With two years left to run on both contracts any offer that reduces the wage bill is bound to be welcomed by the Ibrox board.
No new contracts have been offered to John Lundstram, Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe who are all out of contract next month.
Reminds me of a tv program 70’s-80’s. Jonny Balls think of a number.
Better be careful, they’ll want another pay rise?and neither dumpling is worth the money they’re currently on?
To be fair, Tavpen takes a decent free-kick or two as well as all the pens, and Goldson is a halfway decent defender and definitely the best they’ve got, but would be giving away penalties left, right and centre playing for anyone else without the exemption from the handball rule he gets under ‘Goldson’s Law’….. I expect Mister Gerrard will only be signing them if he fancies getting the tin-tack so his contract gets paid up without having to spend any more time watching his Ps and Qs in the oil-rich despotic regime!
Jeez the sevco fans don’t even want them but the Saudis are going to rock up with £20m .
I blame the schools
Connor Goldson . He being the person of whom an ex senior daily Record print scoop ( redundant ) called ” the Colossus that is Connor Goldson ” ! Yes , that hack was dumped by the tabloid daily Record ….Still ,he did get to go to Seville with the Rangers on that sad night of failure ? Maybe the water caused his judgement malaise ? Dunno…. precious memories !
A few days after Clement drops Goldson he’s off to join Gerrard
