Andy Walker believes that no club can have any complaints about the post-split fixtures revealed yesterday by the SPFL.

Each of the top six clubs will finish the season with 19 home and 19 away matches which is the first criteria as the final five fixtures are announced.

Celtic’s imbalance is having a third home match of the season against St Mirren with the Paisley side at the centre of the conundrum.

The timing of the fixture announcement on Tuesday afternoon came as a surprise, the top six was known at 5pm on Saturday but it had been reported that they would wait for Matchday 33 to be concluded tonight at Dens Park.

Picking up on Walker appearing on Go Radio yesterday the Daily Record reports the former Celtic striker saying:

I think every club have got 19 home and 19 away. The slight anomaly is that St Mirren have got Rangers and Hearts three times at home, and St Mirren have also got Celtic away three times. I can’t see anyone complaining.

We are at a stage now where it’s neck and neck, where you have got to win your games. The only reason you are losing at this stage is pressure. The only reason Rangers lost was just the pressure of the game and they haven’t had players in this position before.

The task for the top two clubs is virtually identical, both can say that by winning all of their matches they will be crowned as champions.

Celtic have 60% of their remaining matches at home including the Glasgow Derby, Philippe Clement’s side will only play 33% of their remaining matches at Ibrox.

The May 11 Derby clash has attracted most attention but there are five matches to be played before that date with neither club on an impressive run of wins and having Scottish Cup semi-finals to play this weekend.
