After scoring twice against Hearts Cyriel Dessers has been shooting his mouth off about playing for the best team in the country.
A look at the SPFL Premiership table will inform the Ibrox star that his side trail the current champions by three points with five matches left to be played.
In three matches against Celtic this season Dessers has still to score a goal with his side taking one point out of nine from the three Derby matches.
Last February Fashion Sakala was shouting off in similar style ahead of the League Cup Final which his side lost as Ange Postecoglou’s side took the trophy thanks to a double from Kyogo Furuhashi.
Picking up on Dessers speaking to Radio Scotland the Daily Record reports the former Cremonese flop saying:
If you look at the last few months we’ve shown what we’re capable of and I think it’s just trying to get the vibe back. If we can find that rhythm back then I think we’re the best team in the league and hopefully we can show that in the next games.
It’s not only us 11 or 15 players on the pitch, it will be with everybody together. Players, staff, fans, everybody in and around the club, and I think altogether we can do this.
We have six more games and everything to play for. I think we have to (think of it as) a new league starting next weekend. We know what we have to do to go and win the title and I think we’ve got everything to do that as well. Hopefully we can execute that on the pitch.
Dessers side have taken five points from their last five SPFL matches with Celtic three points and five goals better off than their city rivals.
