Fans of clubs across Scotland shook their heads and gave a wry smile as Andy Halliday apologised for scoring against the team that used to pay his wages.
In the 25th minute of the first half as Jefte ran in the opposite direction the Super Scoreboard punter ghosted in at the back post, stretched out and poked the ball past Jack Butland.
As he got back to his feet Halliday’s first thought was to apologise to the fans behind Butland’s goal, holding up his hands as his team-mates mobbed him in celebration.
It is fairly commonplace that former players don’t celebrate scoring against a former club but apologising takes things to a whole new level.
????????? What a walloper – complete disrespect for the club that pays his wages
More interested in being liked by the Rangers da’s ?
Not saying he needs to go tonto but that’s embarrassing ?#ScottishFootball https://t.co/TQ8C5YjwMY

Halliday played a walk-on role during some of the peak Banter Years, suffering 5-1 defeats home and away in season 2016/17 then losing 4-0 and 5-0 within a few weeks in April 2018 as Graeme Murty’s managerial career buckled against Celtic as they retained the domestic treble.
Since leaving Ibrox Halliday helped Hearts to defeat in the 2020 Scottish Cup Final, matching his achievement in 2016 when he was part of Mark Warburton’s side that lost to Hibs at Hampden.
During five season’s at Ibrox, including one term in the Championship Halliday started 86 SPFL matches, scoring nine goals.
Even Kris Boyd celebrated his many goals against the Ibrox Tribute Act, including a double in December 2017, scoring in the 77th and 80th minutes to seal victory after Declan John opened the scoring.
@opengoalsport Andy Halliday acting a Class A dick. What the fuck was that pish lol ? Worried he doesn’t get invited to the Rangers convention in Belfast. He’s hardly a Rangers legend lol

Got nothing to do with who he has played for ,he’s child like, “Look at me how staunch I am ,embarrassing

It’s not the fact he didn’t celebrate for me , it’s the fact he held his hands up as though he was apologising for scoring it ???

Utterly embarrassing. Its not like he was loved by the Hvns or was a club legend. He was a wee diddy who achieved nothing at Rangers. Why he thought he needed to do that, is baffling.

He jst signed a new contract with Hearts a few years back and the next night he was on Snyde SSB and said and I quote”I’m really worried about Rangers form at the moment”?????

The mentality of the loser . As proven by the end .

He was motivated not to celebrate for economic reasons:
Had he looked like he enjoyed scoring against the Rainjurz he might have to start paying for his diet Fanta at the Orange Lodge….
Motherwell should terminate loan deal and send him back to Hearts,as a Well fan I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Cringe: bowing to that mob. Thankfully there are plenty who don’t / won’t!
Got that?
Up the ‘RA!
Up the Celtic. AS WELL!
