Friday’s Super Scoreboard peaked towards the end of the first hour when one disillusioned bear phoned in with the suggestion that Barry Ferguson should take over as Caretaker Manager.

For bonus staunch points he’ll have Lee McCulloch and Kevin Thomson as assistants, what they might lack in managerial ability is more than made up for by knowing the club and being Real Rainjurz men.

Not since Ally McCoist opted for gardening leave in December 2014 has there been a permanent Rainjurz man in charge at Ibrox.

Ferguson has been out of management since February 2022 since he was mutually consented by Alloa Athletic with his previous spell in senior management achieving very little with Clyde.

McCulloch tagged along as assistant to Robbie Neilson at Dundee United and Hearts before realising that he wasn’t cut out for coaching. As a manager he won 8 out of 29 matches in charge of Kilmarnock before being replaced by Steve Clarke.

Thomson had one season in charge of Kelty Hearts, resigned in May 2022 to make himself available for bigger jobs, the wait continues as he adds his expert analysis as a co-commentator with a distinctive dishwater style of delivery.

Ferguson and McCulloch are both ambassadors for the 2012 Tribute Act.
