Word on the street suggests that Celtic and Adidas will be back in action this week, launching their latest money spinning kit release.
Throughout July and into August the sales push was at full pelt as three first team kits were launched with various other products all aimed at extracting money from the supporters.
For five years it has been mutually beneficial, Celtic fans love buying Adidas gear, the manufacturer knows the money spinner that they are sitting on with Celtic patting themselves on the back at finally teaming up with the German based manufacturer.
Recent events, specifically the Champions League knock out by Kairat Almaty has now put that lucrative income stream in jeopardy, fans are questioning why they should splash out when their money doesn’t find its way onto the park in first team players.
For once Celtic have read the room, they know that fans are angry, they don’t really want that spilling over to impact on their relationship with Adidas. They have held back, until now.

The brakes have been put on the Magic Money Tree but with kits stockpiled at warehouses the club will have to press the release button regardless of the social media outcry.
Unusually Celtic released a Monday Inside Lennoxtown training video, followed on Tuesday by an interview with Kelechi Iheanacho.
Wednesday was Europa League ticket day, it has been met with a barrage of criticism ranging from SACK THE BOARD messages to fans offering £60 for the £140 package to mirror Celtic’s negotiating tactics.
Tomorrow it seems that another Adidas and Celtic clothing range will be launched- good luck to whoever it is at Celtic that explains to their business partners why their latest launch has been swamped by out and out hostility.
Not only does the money we pay not make it onto the park in the shape of first team players, nor does it fund long-overdue stadium improvements, a worthwhile youth development academy that produces actual first XI players or even a capable PR department that doesn’t further alienate the clubs primary backer – us – every time it comes out with another patronising ‘statement o’clock’ release…. in fact it’s difficult to see what they DO with the money other than stockpile it and give it away unnecessarily in corporation tax.
