Brendan Rodgers has made four changes to the Celtic side that drew with Hibs on Saturday for tonight’s Europa League tie at home to SC Braga.

Colby Donovan and Kieran Tierney come into the full-back positions with Ben Nygren and Paulo Bernardo starting in midfield, the second start of the season for the former Benfica man.

Rodgers leaves his front three unchanged, hoping that they can convert the chances that were missed against Hibs, the fourth goal-less draw of the season.

There are no surprises on the substitute bench, after missing the Hibs match through injury Reo Hatate is fit enough to take a place on the bench which also includes Auston Trusty.

At his pre-match media conference Brendan Rodgers was asked extensively about the prospect of a 29 minute silence before the match but that threat was lifted last night with Michael Nicholson arranging a meeting with the Celtic Collective.

In response to the action from the Celtic CEO there will be no silence at tonight’s match but the crowd is expected to be well short of the 60,000 capacity.

Just how short remains to be seen but a 5.45pm kick off adds another complication for those fans wanting to attend.

While Celtic were drawing 1-1 away to Red Star Belgrade, Braga got their Europa League campaign off to an impressive start with a 1-0 win over Feyenoord. On Matchday 3 Celtic host Sturm Graz while Braga host Red Star Belgrade.

Celtic and Braga were paired together in a Champions League qualifier in 2010 with the Portuguese side winning the home leg 3-0 with Neil Lennon’s side never looking like turning the tie around as they won 2-1 at home.

After beating Feyenoord Braga lost 1-0 at home to Nacional in the league, currently they are sitting in seventh place with nine points from seven matches, on Sunday they are away to Sporting, Porto top the Portuguese League with full points from seven matches.

Celtic have one more match to play before the October international break, hosting unbeaten Motherwell on Sunday.

CELTIC: Schmeichel; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Tierney; McGregor, Beranrdo, Nygren, Maeda, Iheanacho, Tounekti

Subs: Sinisalo, Trusty, Balikwisha, Yang, McCowan, Kenny, Engels, Saracchi, Hatate, Murray, Forrest, Ralston

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Bernard and nygren mean we are 2 down in midfield. Both not good enough

  • TicToc says:

See, see if those stupid bastards who set up the Celtic Fans Collective had denied the offer of a meeting on Monday we could be holding out for Lawwell and Nicholson’s resignations and rightly so after how they’ve sabotaged the team to discredit the manager.
NOTHING ELSE IS EVEN WORTH CONSIDERING!!!!!!!
