I’m not surprised- Nancy digs his grave deeper

Last night’s defeat at Motherwell wasn’t a surprise for Wilfried Nancy.

It wasn’t a surprise either for the Celtic support which explains why the Frenchman must be sacked.

It appears that he survived through the night at Fir Park. So to did Tony Mowbray in 2010 after a 4-0 defeat away to St Mirren.

NANCY HAS HIS MOWBRAY MOMENT

Given the chance to draw level on points with Hearts last night, the 2-0 defeat at Fir Park was every bit as bad as Mowbray’s final match in Paisley.

Back then it was only a matter of time for the former West Brom boss. The squad was broken, the players and fans had no faith in the manager. In an early interview Mowbray had said that ideally he’d make 11 changes in the transfer window.

Celtic were a shambles last night. A shambles prevailed against Aberdeen and Livingston, luck ran out against their first decent domestic opponents.

There is no way back for Nancy after the performance and defeat to Motherwell.

He doesn’t deserve another hour, not another training session.

His post match mumblings confirm why he should be sacked in the morning.

We conceded the first goal on a throw-in and, for the second, we made a mistake.

It was a difficult game defensively, but also offensively. It is not a surprise. I know where we are. I know what we have to improve.

I know also the team we faced. This is tough but it’s the reality.

We will get better because there are certain things we need to improve. At certain moments, we have to be more difficult to beat.

We faced a good team. When I watched the game at Celtic Park, they also played really well. Tonight we didn’t create too much.

There is no case to retain the soccerball guy from Columbus.

EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBILITY

Michael Nicholson and Paul Tisdale are responsible for bringing him to Celtic. Apparently Nancy was the outstanding candidate.

Which tells you everything about Nicholson and Tisdale.

Neither had much of a reputation, whatever they had has been destroyed by the Nancy Project.

They too should be sacked in the morning.

Only a complete fool would allow Nancy to take training today. And prepare for Saturday’s match.

Only a fool would underestimate the stupidity of Nicholson and his boardroom chums. Saturday could be carnage for those in the padded seats at Celtic Park- all of their own making.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Nicholson & Tisdale deserve every bit of stick coming their way. Two utter clowns appointing this kamikaze coaches football. Nancy won’t cut it at Celtic. The player’s and the fans know this.

What did we just witness, and you have to feel for anyone who paid to see that. Didn’t create a chance for over an hour. This experiment needs to end NOW! How can such a wealthy club be so underwhelming, and out of touch with it’s fans . Yeah! We all know.

Their is no one, in the boardroom, who has the courage to sack him. I am a pragmatic person and was willing to give him time to bed in. The results haven’t been good, but last night he had the players on the park to change his system and offer something different. The level of arrogance to continue with his preferred formation and through players into unfamiliar roles was astonishing. He has no plan B and his plan A leaves us wide open and vulnerable. I’m in my 50s and this has Macari and Mowbray roles into one. He has to go today.

You dont miss there Joe. I think most experienced celtic watchers saw this coming with the Nancy appointment but the unravelling has been catastrophic. It CAN be turned around though if it starts this morning with Wilf stuffing his tactics board into a case and getting an afternoon flight to the States.

It was obvious from day 1 this guy wasn’t the answer. Shunned MoN, changed the system, despite saying he wouldn’t. Should have been shown the door after 4 games….the most inept appointment in our clubs history.
Calamitous defending…no tactics worth speaking of and mumbles his way through interviews incoherently….is it any wonder the players are confused……yes theres injuries, however playing players in all manner of alien positions is criminal and has to stop immediately

It was a cert that Motherwell would beat us, only blind loyalty would have thought otherwise, christ, I seen predictions for us to win by 3 clear. What have these people been watching?
It’s also a cert that Sevco will beat us at our own place.
An absolute stick on if WN is in charge.
But at risk of repeating myself, DD is a narcissist, MN a puppet.
Combine that with PL’s forced exit and the fan pressure and the suits just ain’t gonna budge.
They are teaching us all a lesson for insubordination.
DD will see the club burn before admitting he’s wrong, MN can’t take a shit without his say so.
Wee Fergus worked wonders to rid us of parasites like this, its like being back in the late 80’s early 90’s, what a mess.

  • Wee Jock says:

This guy just said “I knew the team we faced”. Why didn’t he set up tactically to nullify them and beat them. That’s what a coach/managers job is. I can’t understand the tactics or set up, it’s too easy for opponents to beat his system with pace and energy, and if you combine this with poor players who don’t seem to be able to adapt, we’re there for a beating. In my opinion he has to go and the football Dept needs cleared out before we sign more passengers in the January window. I’m all for giving someone a chance but you also need to give them help and they need to be willing to accept it, so get O’Neill back in some capacity. If it bothers Nancy then he can pack his bags.
