Wilfried Nancy refused to answer when asked if Celtic will sign a striker in January.
It is the most obvious need in the current squad. There are needs all over the pitch but a club that requires to create 10 chances to score a goal requires a striker.
NICHOLSON’S SELL OFF
Over the course of 2025 Michael Nicholson has sold off Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah.
The token replacements have been Shin Yamada, Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha. So far they have contributed two goals and a couple of assists.
Nicholson and his boardroom chums brought in £35m from those sales then squandered £11m on their ‘replacements’. Still the team needs at least two strikers and a right winger, or two.
Over the last three matches Celtic have created an incredible number of chances. They have collected 6 out of 9 points with a goal difference of 8-5.
Celtic beat Livingston 4-2 yesterday will all six goals coming in the first 40 minutes.
There is plenty for fans to be worried about, signing a competent striker would instantly ease the pressure at the back with Nancy insisting on having nine players attacking. Only Auston Trusty and the goalkeeper have defensive duties.
The transfer window opens on Thursday. There are no signs that Nicholson and Paul Tisdale have any signings lined up.

QUESTION: Do you feel you need a striker, Wilfried, in January?
NANCY:
You are a striker?
QUESTION: I’ll play if you want! I’ll play if you want, I’ll play for nothing.
NANCY:
Listen, like I said, you’re going to ask me this question again in the future. I will answer the same.
When we have a window, the window is an opportunity for each team to improve the team. So we’ll see what we’re going to do, if we’re going to take players, what type of player we’re going to take and so on. But step by step, you’re going to get the answer.
Rather than host a media conference tomorrow Celtic made yesterday’s media conference a two part affair
The backing boards of Livingston will be viewed as Nancy answers bland questions for Tuesday’s match away to Motherwell.
A win on Tuesday brings Celtic level on points with Hearts although the Edinburgh side currently have a goal difference four better than Celtic. Hearts don’t have a midweek fixture.
If we dont sign a striker in January, personally i will go back to just watching amateur football. Its a step too far.
Striker and a right sided centre back are priority. Ralston was at fault for both goals yesterday and Meada continues to miss one on one’s.
Having Nicholson and Tisdale in charge of calling the shots and them putting the man called Nancy tickle your fancy in charge of team matters, that’s like leaving an ALKIE in charge of a pub.
DISASTER written all over it,being 2-1 down after 6 minutes against Livi proved that,
I can’t see us winning the league with this shambolic way we play at the back Livingston scoring two , no disrespect to them but teams with better strikers will destroy us , as for the window Nancy has fell into the boards way of thinking another yes man.
You get what you pay for,a nickel&dime manager from the states soccer league and if he is lucky he might get the chance to bring in some nickel&dime players to match what he has regarding management skills.

Good to see an actual football blog , over on CQN there’s someone who consistently posts music , WTAF&£K , we will sign a striker, but got a feeling, it will be low budget
If we don’t sign a striker the board would be guilty of wilful mismanagement. There’s no world where that would be acceptable. Saying that, it’s our board so…
On the team, some of the attacking play is a joy to watch but we are going to get horsed by Euro sides with any semblance of organisation. Open is an understatement, we leave enough space for Bootes Void to move in.
Auld PISHY at the daily sevco still running our club into the ground with snide digs at the manager, while still creaming his pants for Hearts to win the league.
Then you have Assgaard 1 goal in every 8 or 9 games bragging he’s on fire and the best has yet to come, must be some serious good smokes they are puffing over ivrox way,as well as whatever moonshine they are drinking.
This Coach is the Celtic boards wet dream!!
Not bothered about signing players. Thinks every player can play any position he tells the player to play. No doubt will be ecstatic if the board bring in a couple of projects or some non descript journeyman or never was loan players.
With a suspected, significant drop in merch and match day revenues,
?icholson’s priority could be to make up the shortfall in the window?
Sell Maeda (if he can) and bring in cheap signings and/or loans.
Might still be able to hit those targets to earn his full bonus this year…?
