The growing pain and stupidity of Kris Boyd

It seems that Kris Boyd is pained by hearing Sunshine on Leith.

Most football fans would admit that it is one of the best football anthems around.

Hibs fans use it sparingly. It is churned out every time that James Tavernier leads his losers out onto the pitch.

Sunshine on Leith is reserved for special occasions, for big results. That helps to make it special.

BOYD CAN’T RESIST

Sitting in the Sky Sports studio in Livingston, Boyd couldn’t resist having a go at Hibs fans for singing the classic song Proclaimers song after a Derby victory.

Perhaps hearing that song brought back painful memories of the 2016 Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

When Hibs won the trophy for the first time in 114 years- denying Boyd’s favourite Tribute Act of their first ever trophy. That pain will never clear for Boyd, Andy Halliday and Kenny Miller. Three media darlings.

It seems that Boyd’s stupidity is part and parcel of Sky’s Scottish football coverage. It is hard to come to any other conclusion.

SKY SPORTS TOLLERANCE

The other pundits know that he is an oddball supplied to amuse the angry bears as they watch other teams winning trophies.

Scott Allan, James McFadden and Craig Levein briefly glanced over at Boyd as he threw in the Sunshine on Leith comment.

Predictably Boyd never comments on the poisonous Ibrox song book which is encouraged by the Scottish football authorities. While banned by UEFA.

On Saturday they will be spewing out their hatred of all things Catholic and Irish without any apologies from Ian Crocker. Every fan will be a Season Ticket holder, specially selected by the Ibrox club to bring their toxicity to the Derby fixture.

Bringing in 2,400 vile right-wing fans to the fixture is the lead achievement of Michael Nicholson’s four years as CEO of Celtic.

NOTE: At the start of the season Boyd tipped Russell Martin to win the SPFL Premiership title.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
