Scott Brown really needs to acquaint himself with self awareness.
For 14 years he was an incredible force at Celtic. A player and a leader, a rare combination in the modern age.
In the sixties, seventies and eighties clubs were defined by their captains. These days it isn’t such a big deal, some token responsibilities then move on. Pass the armband as easily as others pass the buck.
Celtic fans lapped up Broony.
He was everything that they wanted to be on the pitch. There was the Broony at Ibrox, often forgotten was that it came after curling in a 25 yard equaliser in a Scottish Cup time.
But even heroes have flaws.
SCOTT BROWN, KEITH JACKSON AND THE DAILY RECORD
While at Hibs Broony and Kevin Thomson were introduced to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record.
Twenty years ago newspapers carried clout. They were genuine influencers.
The Record went to town on the cruelty of Hibs denying two emerging kids dream transfers.
Eventually Brown and Thomson moved to Glasgow.
Brown has retained his friendship with Jackson.
MEMO to Broony- it has long past its sell-by date.
In midweek Brown was quoted as hitting out at vultures around Celtic. Specifically clueless podcasters demanding that Celtic sign £20m players! No podcasts were named, because there aren’t any.
Almost certainly Jackson fed that line to Brown.
There has been a backlash.
Lo and behold Broony is embarking on the Q and A circuit. Fans can pay £65 or £85 for some wacky tales from the dressing room with a few sweary words thrown in for top banter.
“There are a lot of vultures out there on social media and podcasts”
That right aye? Up to £85 a ticket? If you’re going to be a board propagandist, you probably shouldn’t be calling fans vultures when you’re asking them to stump up serious coin to listen to ignorant nonsense. pic.twitter.com/Nr2OcQ8qeF— John Hughes (@yogijunior3) April 19, 2026

Enjoy stories, banter, live Q&A and behind-the-scenes insight from Celtic icon Scott Brown — it’s set to be a night to remember
Brown is perfectly entitled to earn money doing whatever he likes. There will be fans that lap up A Night With Broony.
Credibility is important to many fans.
There is a mixture of contempt and tension around Celtic just now with fans increasingly distanced and disconnected.
Brown would be wise to pick his engagements carefully.
And when Jackson next phones up looking to put the boot into Celtic fans he should just let it ring out.
Does the former Celtic skipper really need the disappearing Daily Record any more?

Someone at Q&A should ask what podcasts he was referring to. Incidentally, Brown was a good servant, overrated as a player, a bit of a liability at times with his stupidity (like his red card against Barca for tapping Neymar with his foot) but a pain in the arse to play against
Scott has earned the right to his opinion on matters Celtic, but when he talks shite then he needs told. I have never heard anyone wanting 20m players or even close signed. If you are gonna speak broonie make sure you think before you speak.
