More than two hours after Anthony Joseph tweeted that Stephen Welsh has left Celtic there has been no comment from the club.
The nature of the tweet from the Sky Sports News reporter is very authoritative, this isn’t someone with a flyer after hearing a rumour from someone that knows a taxi driver.
Welsh was reported to be under contract until June 2028. Often these Celtic deals include a one option with the club.
Out on loan at Motherwell Welsh has been outstanding, easily the best season of his career.
Certainly superior to Grant Hanley, John Souttar and Jack Hendry who part of Steve Clarke’s Old Boys Network in the USA.
THE INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY OF CELTIC
At the age of 26 Celtic should have been able to get at least a fee of £1m for Welsh on the back of his performances at Fir Park.
Instead we are informed by a third party that a club obsessed with money have indulged in a ‘goodwill gesture’.
Adding a ridiculous line to the announcement it seems to have been driven by Welsh’s performances against two opponents in the SPFL campaign. That is taking the generosity of Celtic too far.
If those reasons were accurate then surely the announcement would have come from Celtic, not a sports reporter.
No offence Anthony but a shambles that the Football Club aren’t the first to break this news to Celtic fans.

The big breaking news from Celtic at 10.39 on June 2…
Celtic are apparently very pleased with the new club app. Providing fans with one source for all things relating to the club.
It seems that the app is simply an easier way to try and sell club merchandise and services such as stadium tours.
For genuine news fans have to look elsewhere.
At most clubs a tweet like Joseph’s would bring about an instant reaction. The club trying to get ahead and own the story.
It seems that at Celtic no-one really cares.
Most of the Season Ticket money has been collected. Job done for another 12 months, no need to keep those entitled anti-establishment fans informed about what is going on inside the club.

The contrary view would be that no permanent Celtic player should be allowed to leave,
until we have a permanent manager in place?
The manager would then decide who to keep and who to release.
…unless this is an early confirmation that the Board just wants a ‘Head Coach’
who will do as he’s told – and player / squad decisions are not within his remit?
SHAM – BALLS !
That’s the only way one can describe the fu**ers !
“Mutual consent”. Well, one side is Welshy who was an option for a near-vacant position. The other side is…who exactly ?
