Last night Cammy Devlin saw his first red card since his summer switch to Ibrox.
Appropriately it came from a Romanian referee following a VAR check.
Attempting to ‘gain a penalty’ Devlin launched himself dangerously into the shin of Jiri Slama who had his eyes on the ball.
It was a brutal lunge that somehow the referee missed.
VAR however checked the incident, suggested a pitch-side review with the former Hearts man looking all surprised and innocent.
It was the sort of challenge that was the hall mark of Devlin at Tynecastle. Playing the man rather than the ball.
After two pre-season friendlies in which he fouled and confronted opponents Ibrox fans were drooling over the former Jambo.
‘Just what we have needed’ and ‘he gets it’ were the most common comments.
Truth is, Devlin is Ian Black without the painting qualifications.
Did they get it right? He should have been sent straight to Helen St polis station for bed and breakfast.

After a dismal first half Ryan Naderi put the home side in front with a 50th minute tap-in that he almost skied over the bar.
Both sides demonstrated why they were facing each other in a Conference League Play Off.
DEVLIN ON AND OFF AS MCINNES HANGS ON GRIMLY TO VICTORY
Looking to hold onto the lead Derek McInnes sent Devlin on for Daisuke Yakota in the 69th minute.
Nine minutes later he was off the park following a lengthy VAR Review.
The home-side held on to their victory which gives them a fighting chance of going through in next week’s second leg in the Czech Republic.
It was another performance of nothingness from McInnes.
Six matches into his Staunch Revolution there is no pattern of play or tactics. Game by game there can be three to five changes as he shuffles his bloated squad around.
After being handed the armband and tipped as a Balon d’Or contender Lawrence Shankland has been relegated to the bench.
Last night he appeared as a substitute in the second minute of injury time.
Following the return leg against Jablonec McInnes takes his side to Pittodrie on August 30 followed by a trip to Falkirk on September 2.
The transfer window closes at 5pm on September 3.
“Right Cammy we’re 1 up just go on and take it easy. Nothing daft now”

On the still picture of Devlins tackle, it looks horrendous, although he is a dirty player and well capable of this type of challenge, I think he was more trying to do his other speciality – cheat! -throw the leg in and jump to the floor looking for a foul/penalty. Either way a red card fully merited and another layer of embarrassment piled onto McInnes, alongside having to bench your captain ‘Wankland ‘ because he can’t run!
Aye, Devlin is one of their own and he gets it. Shanks gets it too, a long time awaited bear, and that’s why he’s a new captain. When he came on against St Mirren this little arrogant Belgian did not want to part with his armband, though.
And the Belgian general found himself on the bench. And their former captain Souttar is nowhere to be seen.
Did you notice derision and anger of their fans while they were building attacks from the back? If I were one of their players I would find it impossible to feel free to play. The pressure over there is immense. Compare this to free flowing football from Celtic and how good Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran seem to feel here. There is a chasm between the two clubs.
