Andy Halliday was unable to sugar coat his team’s defeat to Jablonec.
From the comfort of the BBC Scotland studio the former Ibrox ace watched the hilarity of events unfold alongside Kenny Macintyre, Steven Thompson and Tom English.
It is a tragedy that there wasn’t a live stream of the lads in the studio suffering through two hours plus of misery.
As a true supporter Halliday welcomed the appointment of McInnes, a kindrid spirit.
Someone that knows the words of every song, someone that detests Celtic with a passion and buys into every aspect of the paranoia that is rife among Ibrox fans.
Quickly Halliday has realised that being Staunch isn’t going to be enough for McInnes.
He is a bang average manager being overwhelmed by the ridiculous demands of loyal bears.
Halliday was worried before kick off against Jablonec.
At half-time he described the match as being like Walking Football.
Going into extra-time he feared the worst as the Rangers Review highlighted:

DESPAIR FOR HALLIDAY THE PUNDIT
This is one of the worst performances I’ve seen in Europe. Absolutely dreadful.
Off the top of my head, I think of Kaunas, Progres Niederkorn. I think that’s up that with all of them.
Jablonec, for me, are a poor side but they’ve played with a bit more belief, a bit more energy. It’s not a personnel issue, it’s a style issue.
Rangers – no style, no movement, no desire, no tackles, no shots, no control. Offered absolutely nothing over 120 minutes. And I’m not that shocked after what I’ve watched in the first five or six games of the season.
Rangers have had one chance all game. I don’t think they’ve had a shot in the second half, I don’t think they’ve had a penalty box entry in the second half. I can’t see Rangers scoring a goal in extra-time.
Halliday had another 30 minutes of dross to watch through.
And then came the penalty shoot-out.
Captain Lawrence Shankland scored, Jablonec missed and it looked like a place in the Conference League could be salvaged.
The it all went brilliantly wrong.
Young Findlay Curtis skied his over the bar. Two months on from starring at the World Cup.
Then it fell to James Penrice, playing his third match since arriving on loan from AEK Athens.
Penrice missed and the tears flowed. Not just in the BBC studio where chubsters Macintyre and English consoled their younger pundit pals.
It is now open season on McInnes. Staunch has failed with the only question being if Halliday will give up his media work to assist Interim Manager Barry Ferguson?
Next up is Aberdeen away on Sunday. Halliday, Kris Boyd and the usual crew will be watching the latest episode of the car crash.

We all heard and saw McInnes when he threw his players under a bus as they crashed out of Europe…once again . Looking after No1…. I think it’s too late for that ! His old team Aberdeen might just end his cursory short inglorious theRangers tenure at the weekend ? There might be another SOS message for Murts on Sunday ? At least he would bend over backwards and turn cartwheels…all for the cause .
