Taking to Twitter Chris Sutton opted to avoid the main talking points from Celtic’s 2-1 win over St Mirren.
Unusually for the Sky Sports pundit he concentrated entirely on Celtic’s performance. Praising Haissem Hassan and Camilo Duran, questioning the substitutes and midfield weaknesses.
All good and valid but rather un-Sutton like.
On social media there were only two issues trending.
They involved the golden triangle of VAR, Don Robertson and Ryan Lee.
Normally Sutton wades in two footed to stir things up with controversy.
Perhaps the decisions in Paisley on Saturday night went beyond controversy?

During the first half Celtic thought that they had equalised through Camilo Duran.
A dubious still image was selected alongside the strange VAR red and blue lines that are uniquely used by the SFA.
That issue was serious but nothing compared to the stoppage time decision to disallow a goal from Shim Mheuka.
ROBERTSON IMPOSES HIS WISHES ON CELTIC
Robertson simply abandoned all of the VAR rules to deny Celtic a goal.
If there is no evidence for the video ASSISTANT referee he can’t intervene.
If Robertson didn’t trust the dodgy VAR lines he can’t provide his assistance.
Instead he put referee Ryan Lee on the spot as he tried to impose his wish, a hunch on the game.
The assistant referee had the best view of all. He didn’t flag. The goal stands.
Except in this case when Robertson on VAR duty imposed his will on the situation.
Much like Alan Muir two seasons ago when he denied Celtic a goal without evidence.
Muir was quietly side-lined by the SFA. They should do the same with Robertson.
If they don’t take action it encourages every match official to go without evidence and simply impose their wishes on matches.
More than 12 hours after the match there has been no messaging or explanations sent out by the SFA.
If we are giving offside for stuff like this or seeking a millimetre to do it the gig is up. These are perfect legal goals with the old trick by sfa mib to make goals for and against a factor at seasons end.
Or , if one prefers, daylight robbery
Once again Scottish football and fans are regarded as second best by the governing bodies with it’s 50 bob version of VAR ! Angles taken as ‘Gospel truth ‘ from 50 yards off centre either side are deemed acceptable for what the clubs pay for them and are implemented !
Can you imagine the uproar in Tennis if Hawkeye could only give the images to disputed line calls from yards off the court thus causing severe doubt ? Johnny Mac would be re introducing his world famous playing days mantra at bad decisions against him ….’you cannot be serious ! ‘
Why did Roberston not require the ref to go to a screen when there was no way of telling when Yang struck the ball ?
He managed to draw a line on that without a definitive view.
So why does he need the ref to go to a monitor when apparently he can’t see a way to draw a line on the defender for the last “goal”.
The whole thing is either a monumental fuck up or dark arts at play.
Don’t worry though, the Keevins/Duncans/Boyds/Stewarts etc will be all over this and fighting out corner.
So fu**in glad that I no longer pay for this !
