Two tweets published by David Low questioning the process that appointed Mark Keane to the Celtic board have been viewed over 100,000 times.
With the club choosing to escalate the attack on their own supporters there is enough grounds for substantial shareholders to be concerned.
Celtic’s share price has held steady at around £1.60 to £1.70 over the last year. It shot up in June on the back of some big purchases but since then it has slid back to a fairly stable price point.
Since the club decided to reign in the ambitions of Brendan Rodgers in January 2025 things have been on a steady downward spiral.
The dramatic 2025/26 title win covered up a lot of the issues that basically stem from having Michael Nicholson as CEO.
The so-called leading sports lawyer is now into his sixth year in the job. During that time he has held one joint media conference and two in-house club interviews with Gerry McCulloch.
Nicholson’s lack of leadership is a clear issue.
CALLING OUT CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AT CELTIC
Low, a Director in Celtic Supporters Limited has shone a light into governance failures highlighted by the bizarre process that has elevated Mark Keane onto the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Only the Nominations Committee can, as their title suggests, nominate a Celtic Director.
For years that Committee consisted of Peter Lawwell, Tom Allison and Dermot Desmond.
Last December Lawwell bailed out while Wilfried Nancy was manager. In April Celtic announced that Lawwell’s former Clydeport mate Allison had retired as a Director. Logic would suggest that Desmond was the only member left standing, you can’t call one person a Nominations Committee.
On September 17 Celtic announced the appointments of Keane and Raymond Buchanan as Directors. Four days later Celtic confirmed those appointments with an announcement to Companies House.
Who nominated Keane and Buchanan? The Nominations ‘Committee’ was down to one person- Dermot Desmond.
Those are the sort of questions that the other Non Executive Directors should be asking.
In 15 years combined at Celtic it seems that Sharon Brown and Brian Rose have contributed nothing but expenses claims.
In midweek the Celtic website revealed the new look for the Nominations Committee. Desmond was the Chair with Brian Wilson and Keane the other members. Did Keane nominate Keane?
It is complete conjecture but it could be the case that Brown and Rose decided to steer well away from the Nominations Committee.
This episode highlights that corporate governance is another area where Celtic are half hearted in.
Just like recruitment, the club Academy and communications/supporter engagement. And almost everything else.
After Desmond with his 34.45% of club shares the next biggest accounts are held by Lindsell Train (16.14%), Chris Trainor (10.98%), Mark Keane (6.21%) and Tom Allison with 3.53% of club shares.
