Celtic Supporters Limited has responded to rumours that the 2026 AGM could be staged online.
Recently there has been growing speculation among supporters over how this years AGM will proceed.
No date has yet been set, the club is obliged to give shareholders three weeks notice of the event. In recent years the event has been staged in the second half of November.
The 2025 AGM was something of a shambles. Within less than an hour Chairman Peter Lawwell called a 30 minute adjournment, presented a video overview of the season then called Ross Desmond to read a statement to the audience.
PROBLEMS AT THE 2025 CELTIC AGM
Other than regulatory statements on the club website there was no further comment from Celtic about the 2025 AGM.
Chairman Lawwell announced that he would be stepping down. Since 1 January Brian Wilson has been the interim Chairman.
Following Celtic’s statement on Saturday night the divide between the supporters and the club has deepened.
What happens next is the big question.
There has been speculation that the AGM will be held online, as it was in 2020 with Frank McAvennie discussing that prospect.
McAvennie won’t be an expert on PLC regulations but he will be aware of the rumours going on around the leadership of the club.

The talk today and tonight that @CelticFC plc could scrap the in-person AGM this year and run it on Zoom or Teams doesn’t stand up.
Company law requires an AGM notice to state a place. Whether a virtual-only meeting meets that test is unresolved, which is why the UK government opened a consultation on 7th September proposing to allow fully virtual AGMs.
That consultation closes on 30th November. Even under the proposal, shareholders would have to consent first.
The emergency Covid rules that let Celtic hold a closed AGM in December 2020 ended years ago. Changing a company’s articles to allow virtual-only meetings needs a special resolution: 75% of the votes cast, at a general meeting of shareholders.
The AGM is the one day a year that the people who own shares in this club can put questions to the board face to face. That right doesn’t disappear because a meeting is inconvenient.

Taking, or attempting to take the AGM online wouldn’t come as a surprise to the majority of Celtic fans.
Communications from the club are a bare minimum.
Other than publication of their Annual Report, an obligation for a PLC, there has been no comment out of Celtic since the last matchday on September 20.
Other clubs have kept fans upto date with training ground updates, progress on injuries and general news.
It was widely reported on Friday that Jota took part in a bounce game against Falkirk at Lennoxtown. So far there has been no mention of that from Celtic, no update on the winger’s reaction to his first action in 18 months.
AGM’s and other regulatory issues are on a different level.
At some stage this month Celtic are expected to publish their full accounts for the year to 30 June 2026.
That report will include full breakdowns of a variety of income streams plus details of Executive and Directors pay.
And critically details of the AGM, in person or online.
Around 1% of UK listed companies held fully online AGMs in 2025, and they had articles written to allow it. Celtic’s don’t, and changing them needs 75% of the vote.
Safety is a fair concern, and the answer is proper stewarding and a firm chair. A few people causing trouble isn’t a reason to shut every other shareholder out of the room.

AGM
THE ONLY VOTE THAT COUNTS IS THAT OF THE FANS VOTING WITH THEIR FEET BY NO ATTENDING EVERY HOME GAME UNTIL REGIME CHANGE IS ACHIEVED.
Take your support to sky channel or watch online.
Show your disgust at the online AGM decision by making your empty seat talk for the many against the tyrannical cowards running the club.
If you play by their rules you don’t stand a chance.
If you make your own rules you do!
Empty Stadium Seats and silence speak louder than words!
Bang on m8, been shouting this for a year.
Nothing else will have the impact that empty seats will have.
Live games on TV with most seats empty just has to be discussed by every commentator, pundit, radio, news and tv show.
When’s the last time u heard anyone discussing NAP?
