Clueless Gannon of the Record hits the warpath over Green Brigade boycott
Michael Gannon has launched an all out attack on the Green Brigade for not going to a football match.
Unlike Gannon the Green Brigade have to pay money to attend football matches.
They don’t get complimentary teas, coffees, pies and biscuits. The Green Brigade has to go through various security checks and can be subject to a mass suspension based on a long distance grainy video.
There are no special parking areas set aside for the Green Brigade, they aren’t supplied with a programme and team-sheet.
Gannon and his chums at the Daily Record live on a completely different planet to ordinary supporters which explains why circulation crashed years ago with the digital content barely able to cover the basic hosting costs.
According to Gannon, the senior member of the Albufeira Four that enjoyed a few lively nights out with Martin O’Neill during pre-season the Green Brigade should hand their money over for tickets and trust in the brilliance of Michael Nicholson.
Gannon certainly trusts the judgement of the Celtic CEO.
Last November the Record reporter uncovered the WORLD EXCLUSIVE that Celtic were in advanced talks to appoint Wilfried Nancy as successor to Brendan Rodgers.
GANNON HASN’T A CLUE ABOUT THE GREEN BRIGADE OR CELTIC SUPPORTERS
Rather than slaughter that decision Gannon spent the next three weeks explaining to Record readers why the seventh best coach in the MLS Eastern Conference was a hot ticket, the rising star in the managerial circuit.
That claim was buried long before Nancy’s 33 day stint as manager was completed.
Following the party line for Tuesday’s Hotline Live podcast Gannon (14 minutes) didn’t hold back in his attack on the Green Brigade
I think they’ve made their point clear. I don’t see what can they can benefit from not going to these games.
I think this is a huge tie in terms of the Europa League and I get the frustrations and I know the point they’re making and we’ve mentioned this show a million times the reasons why there’s there’s there’s anger and frustration and and valid as well but this is a game they need to win against a decent team.
I think a full stadium and old fashioned European night atmosphere would would be handy. Listen, it’s not a large section. It’s a small section. It’s a very noisy small section but a small section.
I just think all hands to the pump, get behind the team, by all means have your banners ready and all that stuff and protest in the other ways.
I just think that by doing this, it’s denying the team support and they’re also denying themselves a game a good game of football.
It’s a European night against a La Liga team that they’ve already paid for to spite your face that they’ve already paid for the tickets.
Oh, I don’t know how it works the structure of the payments, but I think they paid the tickets already and they’re not going to show turn up in a show of of a protest and I get the protest. I just think you’re cutting their nose spite their face.
Go and see your team and what I mean, listen, the vast majority of football fans in the world are angry at their team, right? There’s very few teams that are successful in football, right?
So, most people are grumpy and think their team are rubbish, right? [snorts] But they still go to the game and have a moan and that’s part of the thing.
In their statement the Green Brigade explained how fans could reclaim the ticket money from their bank.
Gannon can roll out all the cliches that he likes, the FACTS! are that Celtic show virtually no interest in progressing in European football.
CELTIC’S MISERABLE RECORD IN EUROPEAN FOOTBALL
With the full backing of the fans they haven’t won a knock-out tie in a UEFA competition for 22 years.
Roared on by the Green Brigade and over 55,000 others they have failed in their last six attempts to reach the Champions League. Eight times in their last 10 attempts to qualify. Brendan Rodgers bucked the trend and we know how he was treated.
Celtic fans have no avenue to raise concerns and ask questions.
The last Fans Forum was in May 2025, last year the Chairman closed the AGM after less than an hour that included a 30 minute adjournment.
According to Michael Nicholson being involved in UEFA group stage football is success.
For the complete lack of interest shown by the club fans are turning off from European matches.
Incredible obstacles are put in front of the Green Brigade as they attempt to support their team on the park.
Gannon operates in a completely different level, happy to play the messenger while never criticising the most powerful men inside Celtic Park.
His lack of understanding explains why sales of the Daily Record hover around the 25,000 a day mark.

While Celtic nor anyone else for that matter have any Devine right to win anything the board should have spent at least fifteen million MINIMUM of the cash in the bank on a defensive midfield pair and we’d have been in The Champions League Group Phase !
Ah,the auld bootlicker patsy sent out by the board to sugar-coat the shite floating about.
Sounds Like a happy clapper wrote this for him I know the point they’re making .A Full Stadium is handy , not a large section, A small noisy section. Not a Penny More COYBIG ? Keep up the Pressure bhoys it’s OUR CLUB
