9th May 2026; Fir Park, Motherwell, Scotland; Scottish Premiership Football, Motherwell versus Heart of Midlothian; Heart of Midlothian manager Derek McInnes
The Derek McInnes Revolution hit the buffers tonight at Dens Park.
A howler from Dan Neil presented Callum Jones with a 69th minute equaliser as the visitors seven match winning run came to a halt.
A point was no less than Dundee deserved after dominating the first half.
Tonight’s match had been regarded as a formality with a win putting the Ibrox Tribute Act into top place before Celtic take on Hearts.
Two wins over Celtic sent delusions sky high at Ibrox but tonight they looked like a side that was knocked out of two UEFA competitions in the August qualifiers.
Dundee were sharper, better organised and full of running during the first half.
In the 37th minute Bradley Fink ran through the Ibrox defence before steering a low shot into the net off the post.
The lead was short lived with a deflected shot from Badredine Bouanani in the 42nd minute finding the top corner.

REALITY RETURNS FOR MANAGER OF THE MONTH MCINNES
After the break the visitors were on top, when Nicky Raskin netted on the hour mark the away fans celebrated as if they had gone top of the table.
There was no real threat from Dundee but Neil hesitated in possession, gifted the ball to Jones who shot confidently into the net.
Despite a few near things Dundee held on to take a point with the away players arguing among themselves at the final whistle.
Celtic now go into tomorrow’s match against Hearts knowing that they can go four points clear with a win.
Next up for McInnes’ side is a home match against St Johnstone followed by an emotional return to Tynecastle.
Clearly the two wins over Celtic has fooled McInnes and his players into forgetting their double European exit.
With a lack of midweek fixtures the Ibrox side can have no excuses over tiredness.
Dundee’s performance tonight is a reminder to other SPFL sides that a team including Manny Fernandez is always capable of losing cheap goals.
