25th October 2026; Easter Road Stadium, Edinburgh, Scotland; Scottish Premiership Football, Hibernian versus Celtic; Haissem Hassan of Celtic
Much of Easter Road looked thinly populated as Hibs hosted Celtic in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Celtic were given 1,699 tickets to the South Stand and filled every seat. One third of that stand was given over to segregation with a small pocket of green and white fans in the corner close to the East Stand. Not all of them were Hibs supporters.
The capacity of Easter Road is given as 20,250. Taking off the segregation areas takes that down to around 19,000.
According to the SPFL website the attendance at Sunday’s match was 17,389. Less than 2,000 empty seats among the Hibs support!
From their cameras in the North Stand the South and West Stands looked around two thirds full.
With a noon kick-off and rubbish blowing around the pitch, not all wearing football boots, it wasn’t a good look but one that Scottish football is happy to portray.
Hibs have every right to determine the amount of tickets given to away fans at their stadium.
They have the full East Stand over to their city neighbours Hearts. Since January Hearts have won three SPFL matches away from Tynecastle. Twice at Easter Road and yesterday’s win at Motherwell.

CELTIC FANS MISS OUT
Easter Road and Tynecastle are the two proper football grounds outside of Glasgow.
Twenty thousand capacities seem to be on the light side but there are only a couple of matches a season that test that capacity.
Yesterday Hibs turned away more than 2,000 fans that would have put £70,000 into the club. Stewarding and policing costs wouldn’t have been much more with extra Celtic fans in the ground. One area of segregation would have been removed.
With a noon kick off there would have been the chance to sell additional pies and bovril.
The extra Celtic support might even have pushed the home fans into more vocal support.
There seems to be very few downsides to giving Celtic a full stand behind one goal.
That arrangement is very different to St Johnstone and Livingston who hand over three stands for the visit of Celtic.
As a club that aspires towards winning trophies and the top places in the SPFL Premiership Hibs give off a small club vibe over away tickets.
If their players and management are impacted by the noisy backing of one stand with away fans perhaps they shouldn’t be at an ambitious club to begin with.

Hibs made that decision about allocations for visiting fans after – shock horror – the orcs disgraced themselves there a few years ago, a ground where they have a long history of disgracing themselves. They must be doing the 1980s Man Utd tactic of including every season ticket holder whether they are present or not – just to keep their cherished ‘highest average attendance in England’ title!
The reason for the SPONSORED SILENCE when it comes the refs and other officials on the park, and the tickly handshake mob at the SFA, is that LIEWELL’S FINGERPRINTS are all over that 5 Way Agreement, and they know that.
SO THEY KNOW BETTER NOT TO ROCK THE BOAT.
HENCE NICHOLSON AND OTHERS CONSTANTLY SHITING THE BED.
“And rubbish blowing all around the football pitch, not all wearing goo boots”
THATS PURE FU**IN FAB AND WITTY – OH AND TRUE !!!
