1st November 2026; Falkirk Stadium, Falkirk, Scotland; Scottish Premiership Football, Falkirk versus Celtic; Celtic manager Martin ONeill speaks to Celtic TV
Martin O’Neill has been told that it will be business as usual with the 2026 Celtic AGM.
That would involve an in-person meeting with a slot in the timetable for questions to be asked from shareholders.
Last year’s AGM was abandoned by Peter Lawwell after less than one hour which included a 30 minute adjournment.
Less than a month later Lawwell announced that he was resiging as club Chairman.
Brian Wilson started as interim Chairman on January 1, a role that he holds to the present day.
There has been suggestions that this year’s AGM could be held online but there has been no official comment from the club on that matter.
Following today’s broadcast media conference O’Neill spoke to Scottish newspapers on a range of issues.
The Daily Record reports:
Hoops fans have yet to be told the date of the AGM – usually held in late November – amid concerns Parkhead chiefs would dodge the flak by holding the meeting online.
But O’Neill has been told it will be business as usual – and he’s hoping there will be no repeat of the carnage of the abandoned event 12 months ago.
The Celts boss – who showed face with the board at a supports club even in Greenock on Monday – said: “That’s early December, isn’t it? Or something like that, so it’s not that long away.
“I would expect to be at it as a manager. If given an opportunity to answer some of the things and if they want to hear from the manager, I would have no problem.
“I hope it’s similar to what Monday night was in terms of the questions and fairness and not falling into what it was last year.
“It fell into chaos last year, and I should assume that the questions that were asked the other night would be similar to what would be asked again.”
THE ROLE OF MARTIN O’NEILL
While the performances of the team are concerning many fans the structure of the club and how it operates is the bigger issue for most fans.
Two seasons running Celtic have been knocked out of the Champions League at the Play Off stage.
From the Round of 16 Play Off stage in the Champions League in February 2025 to 35th place in the Europa League in November 2026 is quite a descent.
That doesn’t fall on O’Neill who has been appointed Celtic manager three times in the last 13 months.
Over the last four years the AGM has been held around November 20, towards the end of the November international break.
Last year on October 28 Celtic announced to the Alternative Investment Market that the AGM would be held on November 21.
With three weeks notice required to shareholders that date can’t be repeated.
Celtic are away to Torreense on Thursday November 26 in the Europa League which suggests that the AGM will be pushed back into December 2026.
