3rd May 2026; Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Hibernian versus Celtic; Brian Wilson, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay of Celtic
The reality of Celtic’s decent is starting to dawn on the Happy Clappers.
Game by game the subservient cheerleaders are running out of excuses to defend their glorious leaders.
Soon they might be unable to blame Brendan Rodgers for every problem at the club. When that happens the only fall-back will be ‘But look at Rangers’ as they pretend that the events of 2012 is a benchmark to avoid.
The eye test tells you that Celtic aren’t playing well. The stats back that up.
Opponents are always likely to score against Celtic.
Even in victories this season Celtic have been vulnerable. In August they won 4-0 away to Dundee United the home side hit the woodwork five times. Last night they hit the net twice inside three minutes with the hoops unable to bounce back off the ropes.
The malaise in the boardroom has spread to the management team. And now through the dressing room.
The core group created by Ange Postecoglou has been trimmed to the bone. Callum McGregor is a declining force, the hit rate for new signings is getting lower and lower.
Celtic are now in the middle of a run of three wins in nine matches.
Next week’s Europa League tie against Besiktas is a complete right-off. Which leaves a dangerous trip to Falkirk on Sunday.
Not a match that many fans will be looking confidently towards.
@LiamMosson You must’ve missed the “won just 3 of their last 9 matches” part Liam.
Losing 3-1 at home to Ferencvaros in the Europa League, that’s where we’re at on the European stage right now.
Happy clappers are a big part of why we aim to be just one step ahead of Rangers, nothing more.

@LiamMosson No, you don’t just blindly “get behind the manager” because they’re the manager… they need held to account.
I agree with you the bulk of the blame sits with the board, in a world of 8 billion+ people it’s some coincidence if O’Neill & Keane are the two outstanding candidates.

THE ‘MANAGED’ DECLINE OF CELTIC
O’Neill is currently a convenient shield for the lack of purpose and leadership from the Board and CEO.
A year on the 74-year-old is no longer the novelty that he once was.
Fans can see through the old ‘charm’. Now they see a manager out of his time, toiling to cope with the modern demands of management.
After winning 9 of their first 10 SPFL matches many fans were happy to console themselves with that blanket. The cup form and big match results have been horrendous.
Even SPFL managers can work on a system to take advantage of a Celtic midfield that fails to function as a unit.
Jim Goodwin is the first to crack the code and take a point.
After the November international break Celtic face a very demanding run of fixtures.
Unless drastic changes are made more results like the last nine are going to sink the title bid unless the competitors are similarly afflicted. Just like last season.
@aboutceltic Embarrassing
A normal celtic side would be sitting 10 clear just now
The board see sevco not taking advantage as vindication their plan works, instead of making sure we dont need to count on them doing a sevco

@aboutceltic It’s not working. I love MON but he was never the man to take us forwards. Our club is making no progress. We are regressing alarmingly in every way and treading water until the inevitable disaster. We don’t even play good football any more.

@aboutceltic @asimrabbani Get the manager gone before it’s too late.
