Sheepish Kieran Tierney has described Celtic’s new pink kit as ‘nice and different’.

The full-back was wearing the pink kit as he spoke to the media to preview tomorrow’s Champions League qualifier against Astana.

Earlier in the day Tierney had been pictured with team-mates Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembele looking a little embarrassed about the new kit.

Celtic will be in their familiar green and white hoops tomorrow night when they take on Astana hoping to earn a place in the play-off phase of the Champions League.

Tierney has only watched Champions League football from the stand and is desperate to get into the group phase and experience the magic of Celtic Park at it’s very best.

Qualifying to the Champions League is a hard task,” he admitted. “All the teams are in this round for a reason, we just need to go out there and beat them.

It was good to get the away goal. It means now they need to come out and score. We are looking to do all we can to go through.”

The teenager alternated between full-back and wing-back last week and admitted that he is equally happy in either role.

He added: “I like playing as an attacking full-back but enjoy the defensive side of the game too.”

If Celtic win they will go into Friday’s play-off round as one of the seeded teams with the matches scheduled for August 16/17 and 23/24.

While Brendan Rodgers claimed that he wanted to bring in four new players he only has until August 8 to sign players eligible for the play-off round although one wildcard signing can be added until midnight the day before the first leg.
