Thomas Rogne and Biram Kayal to miss Hamilton match

|

Thomas RogneThomas Rogne and Biram Kayal have joined Celtic’s growing injury list.

Both players will be missing for tomorrow’s clash against Hamilton with Charlie Mulgrew joining James Forrest, Paddy McCourt and Emilio Izaguirre on the sidelines.

On the plus side Jos Hooiveld is fit again but the injuries to Rogne and Kayal are major blows with the first game against Rangers just three weeks away.

“Rogne picked up a calf injury in training yesterday,” Lennon revealed. “He’ll be out and Kayal has a persistent hernia problem that he’ll have a scan on today. He’ll be out as well.

“Izaguirre, McCourt and Forrest won’t be fit and Charlie Mulgrew is out as well.

“Charlie has a slight hamstring strain, he could be out for a couple of weeks.

“We’ve picked up a few injuries but their not long term issues, there’s a couple of soft tissue injuries. The squad is still strong enough to cope.”

The injuries to Izaguirre and Mulgrew could give Mark Wilson a chance at left-back, the only other left-back at the club is Kieran Brennan who is with Scotland’s u-19 side in Estonia.

I’d imagine it’ll be Ledley again at left back with Ki starting in midfield. Rogne seems never to be fit — shame as so much potential.

  • Joe says:

Why continue to play Ledley at left back, if at all actually, when the other two are injured defeats me. I’m sure I’m not laonr there either! Ledley looks like he isn’t interested. Getting knocked out of Europe changed his whole attitude for me. Ledley has stacks of skill, but he isn’t showing it in the hoops.
Neil needs to stop constantly rotating the squad as drastically as he does. This is probably why we have little or no cohesion on the park. So far we haven’t faced a team who really believe they can beat us in the SPL. That is about to change in three weeks. Get a grip Neil or you will be lucky to lasta full season. the board won’t take any blame so guess who will shoulder it all? Wilson should have been shoe in today. Ledley needs to test the bench for a while.

  • Joe McHugh says:

Can’t agree with much of that Joe.

I thought Ledley had a slow start at Celtic ( first few games) but is probably our most vital midfielder and seems to be evolving into a Paul Lambert style role.

There are two first team left-backs, both injured today. It’s a long time since Mark Wilson has played in that position, perhaps at home to Hamilton was the game to try him there again.

We’ve played most of the SPL this season and won every match. The Rangers games this season will be more important than ever as the current table indicates.

In terms of the SPL Neil Lennon has got it spot on, faultless. If we still have a 100% record by the end of the month we’ll all be delighted.
