Erik Huseklepp Celtic newsCeltic are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp from Brann Bergen.

A £1m deal is being discussed with the striker also attracting interest from Frances, Denmark and England.

Celtic have a strong scouting presence in Scandinavia and signed Thomas Rogne from Stabaek a year ago.

Le Mains offered to take Huseklepp on loan to France last January but that brought a sharp response from the striker.

“It was never considered, I don’t feel that I am in a position where I need to go on loan,’ he said. ‘Additionally, it’s a poor club and you can only imagine what the options would have been.”

Blackburn were strongly linked with a move in October with the striker quite open about his intentions.

He said: “It’s no secret that I want to move, but it is not something I think about all the time. I used to, and I let it affect my performance so I just had to drop it.”

Huseklepp scores against France

Last season Huseklepp scored ten goal in 30 league appearances for Brann who finished fourth bottom of the 16 team Norwegian Eliteserien.

The Brann striker has scored four international goals for Norway including the winning goal in their 2-1 win over Ireland in November at the Aviva Stadium.
